  • Thanks for the update Julian! :-))
  • Great news, will keep on checking. Do you know how many will be in the first batch? ie is it going to be a mad scramble for the checkout or can we form an orderly queue?
  • the first batch is rather small with about 50 units.
if everything is ok with the enclosures I get a much bigger 2nd batch. I told adrian to already prepare the factory of a 2nd run.

We decided not to make a huge first batch in case something goes wrong. No fun to sit on a big pile of B-Grade enclosures again ;)
  • SCRAMBLE!!! ;D
  • Is there any way we could sign up to be notified when the case will go on sale? The guy who makes PreenFM just had a run of full kits and he emailed people that signed up beforehand so they could know when to be ready to buy.
  • I just made the payment for the cases =D
  • Yeay! Great news, thanks julian and adrian!
  • I'm not sure about the best/fairest way to handle the initial (and much too small) run.

My experience with preorders has been pretty bad so far. even with just a waiting list.
It always made a huge amount of extra work for me.
A lot of people didn't responded.
This would not be bad, but I also had a lot of people responding and confirming their preorder place, I wrote the invoice (which added it to my bookkeeping software), mailed it, and then never recieved the payment or heard back from them.

yada yada yada... not really keen on doing a preorder list anymore :-/

I understand that a shop release date is unfair for those living in another timezone...
so maybe split the first bathc and make them available 12h apart in the shop?

announce it only in this thread way ahead of time so you know when to look?

    I'm open for suggestions ;)
  • Make a lotto for the first 50 cases :P
  • If prices are known I have no problem paying in advance.
Than you a little bit more certainty with your preorder list.

  • Same here, if you tell us what the cost will be I would happily pay you in advance.
  • Is it easy enough to retrofit the metal case onto Lxr's with the acrylic cases?

And another vote for advance payments!
  • same here
  • whats the difference between

"Now I'm taking preorders for 50 cases but you have to pay immediately"
    and
"Now there are 50 cases available in the shop which you can buy immediately"

Both result in "first come, first served", just that the first version makes it much more labour intensive to keep track of everything, write invoices and gather addresses since it is not integrated in the shop system database.
  • keep it simple.
    keep being patient.
    keep things in perspective .
  • I suppose the 'how to' depends on the number of potential buyers.

Is there a smart way to find out how many will want the new metal case?

    Is the first batch perfect?
If you're happy with the result then you could place an order for 100 more to the same spec since you can be certain the first 50 will sell out straight away.  Just hope that failing a poll to verify numbers you don't lose on unfulfilled sales but I can't really see that happening!  Wonder how many kits have been sold in total - I guess some will be happy with their acrylic cases or the 'other' metal ones from before but I'd wager that there is big demand for these new nice looking cases.

If you sell 50 of the next batch quickly then you could order another 100 etc. and since I assume the LXR will remain on sale there will always be a market for the metal case.
Thanks for designing it and going to the trouble of getting it made, looks really cool.
  • I'm having some fun making my own case atm. Happy to wait for a second batch and let the wrinkles iron out.
  • You could count the first 50 considerers in this thread... but don't forget me ;-)
  • so the easiest way could be:

people who want to pre-order should bookmark this thread (or start a new one). once you announce the date in the thread, people get a notification via mail and then can head over to the shop and buy the metal case.

you could also announce this procedure more public. if people want to get notified, they gonna sign up for the forum, i guess.

it's still a first come, first serve thing, but for julian it means not more labour, and the opportunity to do something similar like the notification list like for the preen fm2. which i missed, sadly and i would have been glad if the did announce it on the FB page...

btw: if some one has a cheap acrylic case for the lxr to offer, after you bought the metal case - i would take one ; )
  • Define your definition of "cheap", please ;-)
  • Dont worry, theres going to be alot of "cheap" acrylic cases soon for sale.

OK I think here's how I'll do it.

I split the batch in 2 and put them up in the shop at different times to accommodate for timezones. I had a few complaints from Australia the last time I said "Friday night at 7 o'clock" ;)

I estimate about 1-2 weeks till they turn up in the shop. I'll only announce it here in this thread.

Additionally for the nice, patient folks here in the forum waiting, I'll make a raffle with the opportunity to win 1 free metal case. To participate send me 3 of the favourite presets you made for the LXR to raffle@sonic-potions.com
The winner will be chosen by random.org once the enclosures are ready to go to the shop.

This way I'll finally have material for a better factory preset bank and you have the chance to win a nice enclosure for your naked LXR (or an upgrade to the plastic dress)
  • Nice one Julian! Any sneaky pictures to drool over?
  • no pics so far.
I have the very early prototype metal parts here that are visible on adrians pictures.
But I'm still waiting to see the final enclosure myself, too!
  • a big truck just arrived and dropped off 4 big boxes from adrian!

Also, no ones taking part in the raffle so far???
  • Now I have to wait for the still missing accessory packs (display glass etc), assemble a test enclosure, take some pics and then they are ready for the shop.
    :@)
  • Yay! It's like christmas!
  • I have the tracking info for the final missing parts
