Month? :-) I've been waiting for almost two years for a metal case from Adrian. I bought the LXR at release hoping for Adrian to make one (got 4 other awesome from him for other synths) and I got a "maybe" from him back then. That was enough for me to have the patience to wait until it finally arrives. Hoping for a continuing sweet and rainy summer. :-)
as with others I've been holding off on the lxr waiting for the metal case. Should I be waiting? I will only have the time to build this for the next month or so.
I'm not totally averse to the acrylic cases, they look neat, but I had an anushri with a similar case and it broke when I shipped it somewhere. Would prefer the metal.
I was looking at the acrylic enclosure pics and it looked like for that you'd want to solder the LEDs close to the board, where with your case you would do the usual thing of putting the case on, flipping it over, and letting the LEDs settle into place before soldering them, probably same for pots and switches.
It looks like if I want the metal case I should wait for it or plan for moderate rework to have it fit just right. But if it's still more than a month out I could just suck it up and do the acrylic.
@ablearcher it looks like adrian is using light pipes for his case, just like the erica synths case did. so you should be able to easily mount your existing build to the new case. (@adrian please correct me if i'm mistaken)
in the prototype I have here the lightpipes used in the erica enclosures fit perfectly (even without glue ) So if there was no change I am not aware of the LEDs can be mounted flush on the PCB.
@Adrian can´t wait for a notice from you that the case are available in the Sonic-Potions shop!!! I waited so long for your case because I knew you would use the green Sonic Potions color scheme. Your case-top looks like it is black coated, is it made out of aluminum? If yes, can you please elaborate why you choose that over black anodized brushed aluminum finish? Anodized colors on brushed aluminum have such a nice touch and light reflection :-)
Who would want a full LXR set of these aluminum-shell push-buttons? LINK to manufacturer here Depending on the amount of interested people we could get a mix of natural aluminum and black anodized aluminum ones.
I'm interested... have they been tested though? Same mounting solution with the blue tack?
Given how klugey the current button caps are I'm wondering whether the same solution would work with other button caps. Also price has to be considered.

Any ETA?
