Just got mine transferred to the metal case this weekend. The case is awesome and gives the LXR the solid, HD case it deserves! I like the light pipes, they really stand our bright and make the machine pop. I hot glued them in from the inside so they stay in place and had to trim only one of 'em!
In future there will be no fastening holes and no chost rings in face plate. There will be welded extra mounting plate for fixing PCB and the case. Also the faceplate will be slightly lighter.
I seem to recall there was a post about where to buy new lightpipes (I guess I was sloppy in assembly and a few fell out in transit) but i can't seem to find it. Anyone got a good spot online? Couldn't find any locally.
Hi everybody! I have just joined the forum; my LXR is under construction; I'm thinking about my home-made enclosure, and I wondered whether it were possible to have a file with the original front panel (maybe an .ai file) with the logo, cutting places...
With the metal case I'm having an issue where some of the push buttons don't "snap" back very well and I have to sometimes press really hard for them to trigger. If I pop off the covers and just push the button with a poking tool (pen cap) they respond fine, so it's not the pushbuttons.
Oddly, the bottom row all respond just fine, clicking and snapping back responsively. It's the black buttons, especially the function selection row, where they often stick. I notice they rub on the sides too and show some wear where they're under the case lid. I wonder if the black caps are just slightly fatter, cause I can't explain why the bottom row all work fine.
I think the cases (I guess you mean the ones from Erica Synths) are powder-coated. By this, the layer of pain sometimes narrows the holes for the pushbuttons to much, which caused friction with the cap resulting in the behaviour that you describe.
Carefully check the holes of the buttons that show the problem. Are there any point noses, etc? If so, take a small rasp, or the sharp edge of a knife/scissor and file it off. Your case should be fine then.
