  • @adrian and @julian . I'm ok with the pots I have. It's not a clean fit but I slackened some screws off to reduce the bend over the entire PCB and adjusted them so the buttons are uniform height. I realy don't want to desolder and I don't gig so my box never moves. I'm quite happy. Case is awesome.
  • @julian the proto face plate won't fit to first run cases.
  • hi adrian and julian,

so i missed the first run of cases due to bad timing.  am hoping to order the LXR and metal case when the case comes back for a bigger production run.

will the issue with the pots not fitting under the case be resolved, either by switching out the pots or by changing something on the case itself?  I'm afraid of soldering it all together and then having it not fit properly.

also, any estimate on when the 2nd batch of metal cases will be made available?  I've been wanting to buy an LXR for a year but don't want to have it naked without a case, or waste money on the acrylic case when there's a better option looming.

    thanks!

    Alex
  • @zoneswithoutpeople this pot problem will be solved with small design change.

    Is there anyone here??
I finally manage to desolder the pots ànd replace them with those provided by adrian, spending as much time on that than the time needed for the building of the kit. Of course the pcb is now the worst messy and ugly of what i have done.
but i had to cut the screen in parts with saw, so i now have a lxr without screen I suppose that i will have to bought à new screen from my pocket if i want to finally be able to use it, anyway i will not wait.

  • This is DIY! You can't blame someone else for your own mistakes. Sounds like you need a different hobbie.

No mistake from my part here. Semm like you need to learn to read. Parts supplied n my kit wer wrong and not compatible with the case bought with it.Fact. And sp dont give any suppprt., help or even mail answer in more than one month.other fact

Honestly?... Look at your first picture: there is reason those pot are called snap in: you have to push them threw. From what I could see you just forgot that bit which let you with three mm more. Don't blame the box or the iron blame the hand which hold the tool;)
So please for the sake of diy open source open hardware or whatever you mind, just admit you did something wrong ( which to be fair happen all the time everyone here is learning something )
It's already quite good Adrian send you a new set of pots.

shame on me for being so rude.
    apologies to all
  • Yup!
My bads I haven't read the description of your picture: guess what I've learned something :)
  • I also have the wrong pots but I chose to stick with them and make the case fit as best as it can. I've actually got it in and straight with minimal PCB bending. Not ideal but I couldn'r be bothered trying to desolder pots.

@Flo. I'm sorry your fix went wrong. Desoldering is a tricky business and it's easy to end up with a mess. It really does sound that you should've quit earlier and kept the wrong pots. Getting a saw out to the screen is a bit bizarre.

Julian's just had a baby which is why he's a bit absent. I expect things will return to normal once the baby shock is over in a couple of months.
  • Any updates ?
    :(
  • Put me down for wanting a metal case also. Thanks!
  • guess we'll have to wait another year for another run of 50 cases.

  • Revision updates:

    • decals at the back corrected
    • U6 hole in fastening plate modified
    • added openings for taller potentiometers into fastening plate
    • window will include transparent double sided tape (no more messing with glue)
    • enlarged openings around light pipes in fastening plate (more comfortable to mount pipe fastenings)
    • made light pipe holes smaller
    • KIT will include spacers for IO board
    Manufacturing updates:

Because of the supplier change there are some quality issues. Supplier was changed, because they ended dealing with small customers.
New supplier is having trouble with welding and grinding the corners. I have ordered some samples, but I'm not still satisfied with quality. Working to improve the quality, but also working on plan to make them on old supplier.

Sorry for the delay, but working on it. Everything is taking too long.
  • Thanks for the update!
  • Adrian. I really appreciate your dedication to this case and others. It is really inspiring. I think I have at least four of your cases and they are all top quality. Thumbs up!
  • until adrian has found another company to produce his gorgeous cases I ordered another small batch of erica synth cases when I met him at the superbooth.
  • I know this may be the wrong place and if too annoying I apologize in advance but I have an Erica case I've never used. Case only. No light pipes or anything else. If anyone is interested in buying feel free to PM me.

    I'm interested. Check your PM's.
  • I'm looking to build a second LXR (already have an Eric synth version) is there a waiting list to for the new cases that I can be added too?
  • no waiting list, but I should get 100 cases and girts said wait time for another run should be around 3 weeks.
So if nothing unforseeable happens (again!) I should have them on stock more regularly.
  • just made the down payment for the next batch of cases :)
  • Awesome!!!! :-))
