2 weeks ago i finnished my lxr in one night (9:30 pm to 3:00 am) from saturday to sunday. thank you so very much, this is the hottest machine i can imagine as a brother for my xoxes. for modding first i did the suggested powerswitch-thing from another thread here and then i drilled holes for all the led´s at the frontpanel. i "tunneled" the leds through small heatshrink tubes, so they only shines at the upside.
my next project will be the housing in an alminium-case, right like the ones of the xox-sisters including the battery-powered method which i read here too. for this i just finnished the layouts of the frontpanel for cutting and printing. and yes i´ll use the xox-like sqare caps instead of the original round ones.
but until now i must say that i´m really deep impressed about this machine and it´s possibilities. i just did some hot sounds like my own 808 cowbell, sidestick and more. at the moment i´m a bit stressed by generating some cool toms, but good thing needs its time...
i finished mine in around 5 hours for the electronics, 1 hour for the case/buttons. the only issue i ran into was that the midi in was shorting out the display when i plugged in a cable. luckily my first guess was correct and i just needed to heat up one of the display connector pins that was slightly lower than the others and pull it up slightly. it all works perfectly now.
this machine really sounds fantastic and is a blast to use. very very happy with it.
YEAH!! finish mine after around 5 hours building and no problem exept the lfo led who seems to not work... Real fun to build even if i'm a total noob in soldering... THANK YOU to all of you for yours buildings reports , that kept me positive during the build, and thanks of course Julian for this absolut terrific synth!*
Whow thats from far the most beautifull lxr i ve seen so far! You inspired me i paint the frontplate characters in yellow with a posca its look great! Thanks for the sharing
