    Hi there!

I took my time with the built, but it was my first "selber-löten"-kit ever. Now it's finally running ... success!

(guess I'm hooked now) Thanks again to Julian for helping me out when I was unsure what to do.
  • Finished last weekend. Very happy with it so far.

  • My case came today!
Now that's a cool way to have the button cap colours allocated!

Darn. I spot the Mutable Instruments synths quite often. i guess i need one of those too :x
  • Yep no way around MI :p
  • MI Synths and SP Drums are like Peanut Butter and Jelly!
  • finished today !  This toy is so gooood ! Thx Julian !! Now i need a case !!
  • We need to see photos of completed LXR´s!

Those of us who have not received ours yet depend on you guys to have some eye candy!

    Here you go ;)
Oh my! My LXR already looks that dusty. And all these fingerprints! I use it alot :D
  • Finished mine last night, and got up 2 hours later for work.  Can't wait to play with it tonight :)

  • The "all grey" cap layout is really cool, I plan to assemble it that way too.
  • I went with color coordination, so all the LEDs are green on mine. All-black buttons and the USB socket I used is black. The footer on USB sockets is all standardized anyway, so I fell for the neatness trap @-)
  • Well, here's mine. Barebone. Hoping for a metal case someday. :-)

    And........
    image
  • I reduced them to 1024 ;)
looking nice inbetween the electron stuff :)
  • I reduced them to 1024 ;) - Thanks, much better

looking nice inbetween the electron stuff :) - hoping to get an LXR / A4 duet going later

  • Nice!!!!
  • Just finished mine and it sounds great! (Now to learn all of its features.)
My case isn't together, though, because one of the M3 x 12mm screws in the kit was actually a 6mm screw. Anyone know what the thread size is? I may just have to find a new set of four screws and nuts at the hardware store so that they will all match...
  • 3M = 3mm :)
just get "M3" and you are fine with thread pitch etc. I think the Mx stuff is available all over the world.

at reichelt you get 200 for 1,85€
  • is it ok for you to get the screws from a hardware store?
Otherwise I could send you a replacement screw.

    M3/3mm is correct.

My first self build - very happy :) The picture of the bridge may or may not be the 'bridge' that you need to solder in early stages of the build - but it's definitely a bridge - in fact it's the Forth Road Bridge. Thanks to my helper robots Salt N' Peppa for moral support, sing songs, soldering advice etc.
  • I really like this post ... great job - beautiful pics! :)) Since the LXR was my first built, too – I can feel how proud you are. Maybe I should've added some pics of the "Köhlbrandbrücke" glowing in the dark, too.
  • Another successful LXR build here!

I can safely say that I avoided any use of tape by being very careful with my soldering around the USB port and under the OLED screen!
  • congratulations!

@Varthdader did you use tape over the buttons to keep the caps in place?

  • @toneburst: No way the caps would stay in place without some "help". Of all the possible solutions, I had some Masking Tape laying around while I was anxiously looking to get my new baby in it´s case. Masking Tape as in the whitish paper tape.

Used a small strip over each button, pressed the caps in and presto. No issues so far, caps stuck there nice and firm, plus I can "undo" by removing this tape in the future.
  • @Varthdader cool. I used little bits of electrical insulation tape. Only colour I has was red. Like you, I was in a hurry, so I used it anyway. Your can see a few corners of red tape sticking out here and there if you look closely, but its barely noticeable, so I don't really care. My case was a bit tricky to get together, so I'm inclined not to bother fixing it,
