  • @Adrian I'd say we create a new one. I'll write you an e-mail with the details. I think it would be best to get together with papernoise to design the screenprint so it will match the rest of the designs.
  • As default it will be no wood.
I can let carpenter make some wood and check how it looks.
Lets first finalize this and look that in future.
Adrian, I agree with you entirely. I just wondered if it was in the pipeline
  • cant wait to get one of these :)
  • brainfart, by now there are a lot of shift+button functions.
Would it be possible to make a short list of the most common features on the open space?
Or is that considered to be an aesthetic no go?
  • @adrian - thanks, I was guessing "bit more". Sounds good.

The anodized idea sounds great. Interested to see how that turns out.
  • Love it, will need one!

Maybe we can use theses aluminium knobs (someone can maybe anodise them ?

    or here :

    here illuminated :

They can also do custom design :

If we bulk all together it cool be done...

  • @Lamouette sounds interesting. C&K or somebody should also have some aluminum knobs for these buttons, but I haven't seen anybody selling them.

I just received the anodized front plates and I think they look pretty cool and would look even more cooler with aluminum knobs for buttons.

    Pictures will follow in weekend.
  • I would be interested in one of the cases with aluminium knobs, too!
  • Alu buttons and knobs? sounds expensive!
are there knobs in the current kit?
I personally dont't care about alu or plastic knobs...
but please don't make it too boutique with wooden endcaps etc.
If people want that, it is quit easy to buy/make them yourself!

    Cheers,
    C
  • I think those C&K button caps are not aluminum but metallic plastic.
But I just saw them on pictures.
here is the digikey order number

please don't make it too boutique with wooden endcaps etc.
All metal enclosure will be assembled by virgin maidens on full moon nights only!
This also includes the unique Gargling Purification Process ;)

On a serious note. I think extras like chrome caps and alu knobs are easy to obtain for those who like them. I'd prefer to only offer the bare metall enclosure without accessoirs. Knob preferences vary wildly from person to person anyways ;)
  • hahaha, what potion are they gargling with? ;D

    Some titan colred anodizing.
Can't show Drive pictures directly. So some links.

  • Finish looks great but I prefer the black one.

    Black with "sonic-potions green"

this titan anodized looks to much elektron MD imho..
  • yep black with green ! will this be serigraphied ?
  • Isn't that called AIRA green now?  :D

I like the finish though. But it does feel a little "sterile" somehow. Personally I'd love a real 80s style black matte with red highlights (ah, painting cases is almost as fun as painting bike sheds! ;) )
  • The physical design looks great, especially the sloped front.   Really looking forward to these.

I like the anodized look. That would be sweet with the matching metal finish buttons.

I've got one of Adrian's Shruthi cases in yellow and it is totally pimp.  It's making my other synths jealous.
  • Damn. Aira. Did not realise that its the same colour scheme. Oh well... We can flip the colours! sonic potions green with black letters ;D
  • Greeeeeeeen ! :-))

The titan anodized one is pure awesomeness.  Black looks great too, though.  Hmm.  Buy both?

I really like the palmrest overhang on the front edge.  Helps to break up the boxiness a bit.

@adrian : I hate to say it but you're gonna make me regret buying an acrylic case... (and yeah stop stealing customers from Frank !)
  • @dubtoms feeling guilty
  • I hope so !

    And +1 to wooden cheeks...
  • At first I thought the black one was better looking, but after reconsideration that titan anodized version would stand out more.. yummy! :)
  • Both versions are awesome. And since I didn't order the acrylic case I'm definitely interested :)

  • Don't feel guilty, metal case are really cheap for what they offer compared to acrylic case.

Your projects just need more time naked !
  • @Adrian
Do you know if these cases will require any changes to the display mounting?
    Two reasons for asking:
    1. I haven't soldered my display on the board yet :)
    b) I've noticed the display on the Shruti XT seems 'clipped' when viewed from an angle. I guess because it's 4mm (?) below the surface and the opening is fairly narrow vertically...
    Thanks!
  • any idea when your new case will hit the shelves?
