Peyote was widely used among the Beat Generation authors...
caapi (main ingredient of the ayahuasca brew)
jurema (mimosa hostillis, also used as ayahuasca admixture)
    mescalito (don juan)
    delysid
    microdot

antidote isn't bad either, but somehow I don't like it's sound.
Same with Venom. fits fromn the meaning but somehow sounds too much as trying to be cool ;)

    what about Djinn?
The ghost out of the bottle
    DrumDjinn
    RhythmDjinn
    DjinnTonic? *G*
  • DjinnSonic has a lot of the elements in there...

  • hmmm - guess we are leaving Poisondrums alone as it sounds a bit evil - Antivenom?

Inverting one of those above, DjinnDrum rolls off the tongue.  Maybe we need to go with one of Julian's...
coming round to the idea of a Chemical Barista / Magic Barista - or even Twisted Barista ...
or perhaps the SP Rhythm Cauldron (since no-one liked Crucible!)

...ah Mescal Buttons (that's what I was thinking of earlier) ... now we are straying onto my home turf...

what about: Sonic Potions Psilocybe drum machine
     - or reviving it - Psilocybe 7
    - or using mqldng's suggestion,  SP7 Psilocybe

or the   Sonic Potions Patteran   http://www.wordnik.com/words/patteran

hmm hasta la vista stuff to do..

  • Sonic Potions Pattern

  • Frohe Ostern!

    Witchdoctor

I don't understand what "charlatan" has to do with drums or potions (?), and at least in french it has a strong negative connotation.

Anyway, you should stop dreaming about an "ideal" name, obviously there is none for this product. And act a bit more arbitrary. It's YOUR product, YOUR design, YOU taking risks, and given the amount of propositions and your feedback, it seems quite unlikely that in the end you'll pick one of the suggestions here. Just be a bit more straightforward.
Maybe you can read this topic one last time with a pen and a piece of paper, let ideas and concepts gather in your head, and take no more than 10 minutes to make your final decision. It's often good to make quick commitments, knowing that the decisions are perhaps not the best, but that you assume them. That allows you to free your mind and focus on what's essential. It will be far more profitable than spending another week waiting for another bunch of so-so propositions.
  • yeah - I think you are right.
never been good with making naming decissions :-/
I will let this rest for a while to get some distance and try to decide then.

  • Good call from MicMicMan.

May the Force be with you Julian!

looking forward to it whatever it comes as

    inabit
    jk
  • Maybe "simplifying" the Elixir to LXR would do the trick ...

Then you would be able able to release an LXR ultra or an LXR MK II or add whatever number after LXR.

    My 2 cents
  • And I thought Drumsynth was official now...

LXR or even LXR Drumsynth sounds pretty good to me, like some sort of modern/vintage hybrid that really reflects the spirit
  • Vote for LXR, seems to hit the point !
  • yep - my gut feeling is good with this name as well!
    good one hurolura!
now all I need is a nice layout for the frontpanel with this name on it :D

a lot to do on the upcoming weekend!;)
  • +1 for LXR
  • so LXR it is. bravo hurolura =D>
    I think LXR-7 is good.

  • Just LXR - the X-7 combination is already reserved ;)
  • what for? the fantom?

For the D, R, E, T, Q etc..... but this was a while back when you was still liquid my young Padawan
  • hooray for hurolura putting this one to bed!
nice bit of subtlety with the meaningful initials, official-sounding but with a wink to the potioneers...
julian if you can stretch to it - when you design the case maybe send one to hurolura as a prize?

right - now for the soldering... mouser stuff arrived today and have a free pass to stay up all night on Sunday night (starting night shifts on Monday)... so hope the PCB arrives tomorrow then we are on!!
