    Sonic Potions - Doc Bandam

"He considers himself a potions artist, and like an artist, he's quite whimsical."

[deleted] sorry just realise i've been going a bit overboard on this thread!!!
  • maybe 'emerald'?
  • edited March 2013
Yeah, gem stones are nice and hasn't been done before afaik. You could even go with smaragd...
  • yeah and somehow emerald potion makes sense, too.

if you do that better get some green acryl for the case - that could look nice

or to keep free rein on the colour: Sonic Potions' Little Gem? memorable & accurate,

would have side effect of making us Brits think of famous little jelly sweets tho...
  • I think Drumlab would perfectly fit the sonic potions aestetics...

Also, something reffering to Chemical_synthesis would be cool

hey I think that is EASILY the best suggestion yet!  Mine have been getting weaker and weaker (running out of ideas) but this one has power...

    Sonic Potions Drumlab.

    it's just so right!

Nice one dubtoms - Julian - surely, the search is over?

    +1 for SP Drumlab

  • I think that Drumlab is already very good. Not fond of the Nemesis thing.

I just thought about something vaguely related about potions, fluids and stuff :
doldrums (an area where storms and hurricanes 'erupt' near the equator in the atlantic ocean)
    tantrum
  • I still think Smaragd is the best yet...
  • @MicMicMan 'doldrums' has quite negative associations, in the UK, anyway. We talk about something being 'in the doldrums', meaning it's not doing well, or doing very badly, in fact.

Mind you, I have a box of Spunk (Danish fruit sweets), so some words clearly lose (or gain) something in translation...

  • Oh, right. Good to know.
  • Shaman or ShamanDrum
    Medicine or MedicineMachine or MedicineDrum
  • +1 for Drumlab.

  • nice to see the love for MedicineDrum shiftr ;) - you are right it is better without the space.

still having streams of dodgy ideas to add to the ones I've been flooding this thread with...

    AutoDrum, MechDrum, RoboDrum, Techdrum
NarcoDrum, DopeDrum, SP Alchemist etc etc...

but for me dubtoms has really nailed it with Drumlab.

all I can really do is try & get in on the act...

Sonic Potions D7 Drumlab?   SP7 Drumlab?

Probably Drumlab on its own is better.  Definitely gets my vote anyway

  • +1 for SP7 Drumlab
  • Bit it's more than drums, isn't it?
  • it depends how you see it.
The whole machine is optimized to do drum synthesis. And my intend was to do a drumsynth.
all the bass/synth sounds from the demos were done using the drum engines.
It is possible, too, to do all kinds of sounds, but for a real synth track I'd have done some things quite different. (there is no sustain, no dedicated filter EG, no glide or note length...)

Yes I understand, what I meant is that the sounds are not limited to drums as in drum skin on a shell, but can be all kinds of percussion sounds, and beyond...
  • As it happens, I suggested "Drum Lab" to Julian in a PM on the 14th. :P I sense that he is not convinced by this name though and to be fair - if one were to be critical - "Drum Lab" is appropriately descriptive but doesn't suggest much of an "identity".
  • Does that mean I'm not the one who gets a free kit in the end ?

    >-)
  • RuneDrum
    RunicDrum
    RunenDrum
    RaunenDrum
  • or CYANIDE

he's right. I think it is a nice name, but on the one hand there are quite a few 'soundlab' synths - the boehm soundlab, the MFOS soundlab mini... and on the other hand I think the name is quite generic as well.

    Sorry! I know i'm difficult!  :-?
  • STG/soundlabs

  • candy flip :-p
  • +1 for Cauldrum, then :)
