SD card Image

  • I´ve use the second batch (september2013) with firmware 0.23.
i tried a 8gb panasonic SDHC card, and get a SD card init error after startup.
    (card is inserted before starting)
tests: by pushing the encoder button at startup i get a SD ERROR.

the sd card is formated by win7 with FAT32 and only the uncompressed sd-image is in the root of the SD card filesystem.

    any idea ?
  • are other sd cards working is this unit?
I have a 8GB kingston and samsung SDHC and both are working fine.
  • i dont have other SD-cards.
    is in the sd-card file.zip the 0.21 firmware.bin included ?
or must this swapped to the 0.23 firmware inside ?
  • Bootloader v1.2 and SD-ERROR by pushing the encoder at boot.
  • could you check the SD card socket pins on the mainboard?
I had a few mainboards where they were loose and i had to resolder them.
SD-Error means it can't communicate at all to the card.
  • the soldering points looks fine, pins inside the reader looks fine too.

my last build from first batch, had the same issue - but there i tried a old 256M card and 512m card,
my friend use yet a 2gb sd card,

So i assert its a software issue from the LXR.

my SD card is like new and works in all other devices fine.

have the sd card file included 0.21 firmware ?
i have tried to swap this with 0.23 but same result.

  • have checked more options, 1-2gbyte partion logical and primary as FAT16 and FAT32, same issue as before.
i have spoken with embedded developer and found this:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/955587/initialization-of-a-microsd-card-using-an-spi-interface

in my point of view its important to have a wide range of supported SD-cards,
in few years you are unable to buy (small) SD-cards.

  • After spending further 8euro for a small 2gb trancend sd card, i'm able to load files from sdcard.
But the thematic isnt solved !
It gives a SD card standard and its important to get the normal/full compatibility with the lxr board.
Please check the crc cmd55 sources.
  • yeah-i will look into this matter.
what kind of card do you have exactly. It would really help If I had a card that does not work.
All cards I have work flawlessly.:-/
  • My SONY SDHC 8GB card works like a charm.
  • I've got a sandisk 4Gb that works fine.
  • So for now, perhaps compile a list of cards that are reported working?
  • i got sandisk ultra 2gb working fine
  • Panasonisc SD (4) 2 GB - works fine
  • Sandisk SDHC 4 Blue 4Gb working fine
  • I have an old SD card (256mb) that I don't use anymore with my camera, obviously. Is this enough space to save a bunch of patterns ?
  • Is the Adress mentioned in post#1 everytime the actual Firmware?
  • @fcd72 yes.  I have to migrate it to GitHub one day for version control.
@dubtoms plenty! A pattern is about 50kb if I remember right. A kit is even smaller.

Then I guess I could even use my Ancient 16mb Card (yes it used to be that way !)...
  • Im to dumb... where can i find the 0.24 Firmware??? The link above seems to be 0.21 according to the Date?
  • current release is 0.23
    http://www.sonic-potions.com/public/FIRMWARE.BIN
I also included it in the GitHub repo for better version control
    https://github.com/SonicPotions/LXR/tree/master/firmware image

I'm still working on the 0.24. The 'revert value to original after step-automation assignment' bug is tougher than I thought ;) I hope to finish it over the weekend.
  • Just finished and had trouble using this Transcend 16GB SDHC card. Switched it with an 8 gb Sandisk card out of my ESX and all is well. Makes more sense that way anyhow. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

I can confirm this. I had also trouble using this card.
A 2 GB SanDisk works fine now.
