@fcd72 desolder your screen? This might be a terrible n00b question...am I to solder the screen to the pins? The assembly instructions didn't mention it, so I just placed it on the pins.
Yes @Julian, I guess the display touched some pins though I thought I had trimmed them all quite low.
Added the "solder display to the connector" step to the assembly manual If the display is not soldered to the connector i'm surprised it worked at all.
ok really basic question here. I would like to help you Julian by doing a genuine LXR bug report - but quite likely the bug is me...
I'm trying to get synchronised with an external MIDI clock coming from my octatrack. I have set the tempo to zero in the settings page. I can't seem to detect any incoming MIDI clock, I have managed to send clock from octatrack before and so I think the problem is in receiving.
Which of the MIDI ports is "in", first of all (obviously I have tried both)...
and other than pressing start, which I have done, and having tempo set to zero, are there any other things I need to do to get the LXR sequencer to start with external clock?
I just tried it together with my xoxbox. The MIDI jack next to the DC jack is the MIDI Input. I set BPM to zero. that's it. LXR starts when I press start on the xox
@MicMicMan I need to further investigate the midi sync problems. Just did a quick test. thre LXR seems to start in sync with the xox as master, reducing tempo makes no problems, increasing tempo brings the LXR out of sync. But I have an idea whats wrong
yeah it looks like what I was experiencing regarding de-synchronization.
still, there was seemingly one frame difference between the anushri kick note and the start/stop sync signal. It was very sensitive when the tempo was setup to something slow. You can maybe spot it if you hit the start button with a very slow tempo using your xoxbox.
I will make more tests when I'm back at home next week. Maybe I'll try so synchronize multiple LXR units. should be easier to hear timing issues with 2 drum sounds than with an acidline
ok well you can scratch my "issue"....after making damn sure that all the solder joints I could see on the board were as close to perfect shiny little nipples as I could get them, while hunting for the cause of my MIDI in issue & peering under the display what did I see but two little naked pins poking through the board from the MIDI in connector, totally unsoldered.. hmmm.
I knew the bug would be me .....
So anyway, pleased to report LXR now playing ball with octatrack, anushri & shruthi, syncs from octa fine & transmits clock & start/stop ok too, haven't been further with that as got distracted playing with these cool sounds (very slow attacks making nice rise & fall pad-type vibes!)...
anyway Julian get off your forum you are supposed to be on holiday!!!
i've had a play without an lcd and it was still quite intuitive to operate. now my lcd is sorted (with a homemade cable) i've been digging deeper into the synthesis & it is really good with all kinds of sounds other than drums. also plan to make a front panel soon but too much fun to be had.
I also noticed i have to press buttons twice... i thought it might have to do with using them without the switch caps. But they do give a click so i might have to do with debouncing. Also the pots are to sensitive sometimes with values flickering between 2 states.
I increased the digital input scanning rate in the latest firmware v0.16 Buttons should react better now
Can I just say I am in love with the record button? I've been recording rolls and then recording the tuning to come up with cool pitched percussion lines and bass lines.
I think I found the problems with the midi sync. there were problems in master and in slave mode. Now the midi clock is phase locked to the sequencer position and I had to increase the internal clock resolution quite a bit. I will do some further testing but so far it looks very good.
The fix will be included in the upcoming v0.17 update
Hi Julian - am away from the LXR at moment but had fun with it in last few days. Loking for bugs & haven't really found any. But one thing I found was that LFOs didn't actually seem routable to any parameter - lots, but not all. Obviously all may not be possible but am I missing something? or do you need to scratch that line on the website...
@bendyjohn could you name some of the missing parameters? I know some of the parameters in the list are not working yet (track length modulation for example) but the list should contain all parameters of a voice.
@julian it's working well here. i don't have the usb midi connected. just the DINs. slaved to monotribe it does lose the clock somewhere before zero, only sometimes though? or it may be when changing suddenly.. :-/
i noticed you can hold more than one button on the perf page for many voice at once rolls, nice!
will it be possible on step editing in the future?
i meant just the pressing of more than one step button at the same time.
although it's no big deal for me. completely happy, great features. excellent sound quality. etc :-bd
i will want to read the final manual but till then all these things are just me finding my way..
i also just got that repeat thing yesterday.. wondered why rpt=8 was playing 9 times..
as i have more patterns and sounds it is a little bit confusing once i load a new pattern then the load/save sound number will have changed from whichever was selected/loaded to the number of the pattern just loaded.
is there a way to keep them from changing to the same number?
ah ok, I see what you mean. The no multiple button presses in step mode are just a software problem. If you hold down a step button you can assign automations to this step, if you push it just short, it sets/removes a step. So i have to measure the time the button is held down to decide what to do. Unfortunately I forgot to add more than one timer to the firmware, so at the moment the firmware can only track one step button. Will be fixed with upcoming updates!
I added the sound/pattern number thing to the buglist

I made the same mistake with some of the buttons on my last build and was wondering why they wouldn't work.
It's allready been very relaxing so far. didn't spend much time behind a screen yesterday - something I haven't done very much for the last year
At the moment my son and girlfriend are sleeping and it is raining outside. But I think I will swap the computer for a good book now

It's not that I have nothing to do
I will include the default repeat value = 0 in the next update
