My lxr came through Canada post, had to pay a bit of duty still. I've never had to pay couriers for parts. My last shruthi came by dhl and cost me quite a bit.
I also +1 the Shruthi. I'm building one now and it was super easy. The LXR really isn't tough though. Just tedious sometimes (alot of buttons and LEDs)
Personally, I would go for it only because I get impatient. Although the next batch is scheduled to be released soon, you never know if there are going to be delays.

I was talking with a co-worker today and I came to the conclusion that I keep buying smaller things to build as an attempt to avoid building a modular.
