*Sorry I missed that thread, feel free to merge mine into it!*
By ground isolators I assume you mean DI boxes?
Far from practical indeed. I was really hoping for a simple hack.
I'm not versed in electronics but isn't there some component or simpl…
I think it's somewhat usable as a sequencer for very bare bones music styles (minimal tech, raster-noton type things etc). And to dig up a cliché: working within limitations might inspire you more than working in a DAW with limitless possibilities. …
The noise appears to occur only when I have my Memory Boy connected to the 2nd aux io out of my mixer/tape recorder. Probably some circuitry in the mixer circuit isn't well isolated. Further testing will be needed to confirm this.
The LXR sounds eve…
I've tried using different outlets already, might try to use different cables next. Perhaps I should get some DI boxes.
It really sounds like you can hear everything going on inside the LXR, even the processor. It creeps me out.
I do have a midi clock signal coming in through the midi in socket.
I don't think anything's shorted on the main board at least. It sounded flawless until I installed the trigger IO and started using this new 8-track recorder/mixer. The trigger boar…
I experimented some more and found that the click you hear on the empty pattern changes accordingly when I change the resolution of clock outs 1 & 2.
I don't mind a little hiss here or there, but this sounds like a damn fax machine!
Thanks!
I tried recording a standard clock pulse to a tape track, but for some reason the LXR won't sync to it... so an fsk sync tone input/output would be cool.
Hope you had a good holiday, Julian!

I found this old school DIY drum synth project on another forum. Looks like a cool thing to make and use with the LXR, although the pcb's would have to be custom made and suitable replacements would be needed for parts that are no longer in producti…
This has probably come up at some point, but I couldn't find anything with the search function:
would it be technically possible at all to implement sending control voltages through the trigger outs?
(i'm guessing no)

Also, I'm selling my MFB 522 to fund the YOCTO kit. Letting go of it reluctantly because it's a very nice machine. But soundwise it's too much in the same ballpark as the YOCTO to justify having both. It's in great shape, and I recently installed a …
I'm a bit nervous about the build, because the instructions aren't as clear as Julian's (they're in "Frenglish" ) and apparently the parts not sorted.
Last I heard, next batch will ship end of this month. Fingers crossed.

Guys, I'm a bit baffled by your instant rejection of my plea.
I realize the LXR is a work in progress, but like most of you (I hope) I built this thing to make music with. I'd like to be able to take the LXR on stage with some degree of confidence. …
Thanks Julian!
The link you posted is to an older version, but I'll figure it out. thanks!
Billieblaze: my LXR was just being weird. On some channels I couldn't select an osc waveform anymore, and sometimes a sound would just suddenly to staccato wh…
The LXR isn't meant to be a sample based drum machine, but you can load a small amount of wav files into the firmware to aid in synthesizing your sounds. Read this thread: http://forum.sonic-potions.com/discussion/179/sound-suggestions-realistic-hih…
This little guy was one of the best investments I made. It's powered by the midi bus as well so no extra wall warts. That said, I don't think that adding midi soft thru would be that hard to add to the LXR:

The DSI Mopho has a midi out that can be switched to act as a midi thru. That would make sense as a feature on the LXR. In the sense that it would save you the cost of another thru box.
I'm gonna make it the midi master clock in my chain because apart from my Atari STE it seems to have the tightest timing of all. The shuffled midi clock is also a fantastic feature!
Too bad it doesn't have a thru, yes. Fewer and fewer of the new ins…
Another feature I'd like to see is that I could just leave it on at night and it would compose genius tracks on its own, using some kind of algorithm, and post them to Soundcloud on my behalf.
+1 on this!
I've been dreaming about an internal PT2399-based delay in my LXR. It's a cheap IC and is very good at emulating those old school murky BBD delay circuits. Gated reverbs and compression would be nice to have as well.
My LXR is loaded with a 707 kit!
One word: WOW.
When you mentioned that you'd try this, I was expecting to see an implementation in a few months, definitely not this soon.
It happily ate all the samples I threw at it from the first try. The longer …
