Expansion headers

Just to double check, the expansion port should be soldered with the pins protruding to the bottom of the PCB, and the AVR ISP to the top?

    yes.

    you only need the AVR ISP header if you want to flash your own AVR chips.
    The expansion header has no purpose yet ;)

    By the way, my kit included a mysterious male pin header, 2x10. I was wondering if it just got in there accidently or "in weiser Voraussicht" for future expansions ...

    I could imagine this should have been cut into a 2x3 and 2x6 header for isp + exp ;)

    I see. I was just wondering because it never got mentioned in the assembly instructions. But if you look closely you can spot those on some of the pictures ...
