LOAD/SAVE & Sub Menu Feat. request

Hi, i think this can improve LXR usage:

1. When i push LOAD/SAVE button, default option is LOAD, i think better than this will be "Choose what want todo: LOAD or SAVE?". (I lost my 45 minutes tweaking by trying to save...)

2. In modulation destination sub menu will be better if destination names are longest than 3 letters.

Thats all for the moment :)

  • To 1: Yes, it definitely needs to be 'harder' to save a sound or pattern ;)
As i recommended in another thread, maybe a confirmation screen, like: "Save to $sound_name? >No. Yes." would do.

to 2: It's already in the bug/todo list (point 8)

  • +1 for not being able to ruin your work in seconds ^^. that has happened to me alot and i don't seem to learn to avoid it.

I think that loading should also be protected because its just as dangerous.

Both of the suggestions above would work for me.
  • I understand the problem about accidentally loading/saving a sound.
On the other hand I dislike the idea of adding additional button presses.
Yes, it would prevent accidental saving, but in every other usecase it slows down the whole process.
I think it would be reallyannoying if you are browsing presets and have to confirm every load operation.

would some sort of backup mechanism work, too?
maybe I could save the current sound to a backup preset periodically and additionally make copies of overwritten preset files with a different name? so if you save to p001.snd, thefile will be renamed to ~p001.snd before the new sound is saved to this file.
  • @julian . I understand that. but implants proposition would elegantly solve this.
Perhaps you could press the load/save button and then moving the encoder to the left gets you to the load page diretcly and right to the save page.
  • I just read it again after having a cup of coffee ;)
I thought he meant an additional confirmation whenever you want to load/save.
But he really means a load/save question once, when you press the load/save button instead of the button toggeling between those 2 modes. I'll see what i can do!
  • Thats why i refuse to do anything before i had my first coffee. i'm practicaly useless in that state ^^

how about asking to load/save only if something got edited? or do it the waldorf way with edit buffers....
