  • Finally came the kit and I've finished assembling the synth. Fair in testing
l red LED, the synthesizer was fixed with the led on the first instrument and did not work.

I cleaned the PCB of flux residues and impurities and now seems to work well. I note that from time to time the power is on, all LEDs stay on and not load the operating system. Seems to not load the operating system. The problem is fixed by disconnecting the power and reconnecting.

Is this normal? there is something that may not work well?

    I use a 9V power supply 500mh.

Great work, many hours of fun!!

Excuse my bad English, but I'm with google translate :(

No, this is not normal! ;)
Please check the orientation of  the electrolytic caps and the soldering on the AVR.

When the synth starts normal, is everything working as expected?
  • The direcion of the caps is correct, I've also reviewed the avr welds and are correct.

Sometimes when the operating system loads for a second and light some leds, sometimes other LEDs light up, but eventually loads the correct operating system

After loading the operating system everything seems to work properly.

I've noticed that when I enter some parameter (I'll review what the specific parameter) by pressing the encoder, the number of value disappears on the screen, and I have to edit in the option value and turning fast knobs down screen.
  • after a session of two hours, the synth has blocked 3 times, one of the times appeared on the display Chinese characters!

I think something is wrong ...
  • the chinese characters indicate a reboot. it is a problem with the new haven displays used. they don't like a rebooting AVR.

Is anything besides the 7805 getting hot?
    the avr?

Does the PSU plug fit tight in the dc socket?
  • I have reviewed the entire electrical circuit, and I've also soldered the jumper switch. Placed a jumper for the future place a switch.

I think I fixed the problem, the synth and not reset.

Today I had another two hour session and I have noticed a few things:

    - On one occasion with 7 instruments in play and performance mode when retriguer try the machine went into collapse.
    - Sometimes the pots values are not accurate and the number on the screen switches between a value and the next.
    - Sometimes when change page synthesis or editing page, change the value of a parameter, this makes the sound change radically, I have to restore the value with the knob again.
-On two occasions the machine is unable to load the patterns. a continuous message on the screen "loading pattern"

I'm really happy with the sound and possibilities of kick!

For the rest I think it goes well
  • Isn't it just the powersupply ?
When i power my LXR from my bench supply at 9V, it does go up to 600mA when all the leds are on.
It also uses about 600 for a short while when powering it on.
So I can imagine that a cheap 500mA psu can't really handle it and the AVR isn't powered up properly.

  • Another thing I noticed is the PSU plug has to be the 2.1mm version!
2.5mm plugs fit in the socket and seem to work, but have a very loose connection to the middle pin.
This leads to reboots and boot problems when the cable is touched.

    regarding the performance mode collaps.
In the lates firmware is a bug, that can freeze the mainboard when seq button 8 is pressed in one shot mode.

I'll try to make the reading of the knobs more stable in the next version.

Preparations for batch 2 are nearly finished, so you can expect new firmware updates very soon!

Would a bigger (or additional) cap in the power line help, to bridge short time powerline disconects?

  • I think this would need a fairly big cap.
using an appropriate PSU Plug seems the bettern option.
  • ok! I changed to a 9v power supply 1mA and seems to have fixed almost all problems.
I have only had a charging problem with patterns.

Today I have a small live concert and I will use the LXR, I hope all goes well!

  • @sispac cool! Just remember not to use the 8th butten when in one shot roll mode ;)
  • will fix this today! It's coding time :-B
