  • Very good news!
I see that 4344's now on the main board. What about SD-card, does it still requires AVR to function or interfaces directly to STM32?

  • The SD-Card is attached via SPI and shares a bus with the AVR and the STM32 So yes, the STM32 can access the SD-Card as well.

On the drumsynth the AVR handles the SD-Card, because I got audio dropouts when the STM32 talked to the card. But if you don't plan on doing something with 6 complicated voices at once and got some cycles left you don't need an AVR at all.
  • Trevligt, as we say...
  • Salute Julian!
... can't wait to get my fingers on this :)
  • Yeayyyy ! I am more excited now
  • and so  ? Any news ? :D
  • the firmware is making good progress. I think maybe another 2 weekends of work(hopefully!)
I'll try to tripple check the final PCB layout for the front and order them this weekend.
and then there is still parts ordering/sorting and finishing all the documentation.

My first beta tester already got a preview version of the last revision.
so I think I'll need to work a lot this month and hopefully I can release the kits next month!

  • Great news, Julian! Looking forward to it!
    Any thoughts about pricing?

  • I'm super psyched about the project. Got myself already a coupe of mutable and would love to add this baby to my rack.

If you need more beta testers I'd be happy to be helpful, I'm in Berlin.

  • Don't hesitate to start with a "pioneer run", with self-sourced components?
Well in any case, I do want to be part of this first run :)
  • yeah, I think a limited pioneer run would be good.
But you would also have to act as beta testers, to see if there are still some major firmware flaws, or fuzzy steps in the building manual... ;)
  • Yeah, I'd be ok for a pioneer run too.
  • I finally tripple and quadrupple checked the fronpanels and just made a big PCB order :)
can't wait to get them! but still have to wait some weeks since i didn't want to pay the turbo extra charge.
I really hope I have not overseen something crucial!;)
  • We'll see, i guess ;-)
  • sure we can be like beta-testers
this is what we actually did with some mutable instruments products (remember the issues with the pt2399 when the yellow magic was released) :)
  • i´m down for it
  • a little bit more teasing :D

congrats! looks like this is taking shape...
  • Looks great!
  • Case made by Fcd72 ?
  • Haha. I thought so too.
  • much less hassle than doing it all myself and using some online fablab.
  • Very much looking forward to this, trying to save up for a kit! Glad to see that you've "sourced" a suitable case, Julian. This drum machine looks like it's going to be a brilliant piece of gear that will encourage lots of hands-on tweaking and live play.

    @Julian It looks really nice.

What are dimensions of the enclosure ? I would like to clear some space on my desk so I can place this little beast :)
  • This looks very interesting, indeed ;-)
  • it's about 27.5 x 14.5 cm
