Weird chinease symbol - Problem - HELP

edited March 2016 in General
Hi,

the first problem  :

and also, everytime i try to update my lxr, a message appeard ' File n'  with any firmware version of brendanclark.

So today, i bought a new sd card, put the original firmware of julian on it (V0.21), delete everything, put the card into the lxr, the bootloader work fine, without the 'file n' message.
but the weird chinease symbol, are still here. and it looks like it wont going to stop. i reboot 50 times my lxr. i can't play with it because everytime i've got the same weird chinease symbol.
To resume, I have the very early firmware on the lxr, the new firmware can't load, because of the 'file n' message. i already change my sd card, and try differents versions of the new firmware. the weird chinease symbol don't stop. before it was time to time and after 5 or 6 reboot, nothing shows up. but not this time. it's a little bit scary, because i bought it only 4 or 5 month ago.

So please, help me, Paulus already did, but nothing change, if you have any 'new' solution, because i think i have two differents problems : the 'file n' problem and the chinease symbol.

Help help help me thank youuu

I would give the same advice: check the solder points around the atmega and reflow any that look suspicious. Try swapping the atmega or mainboard (the atmega is a more likely culprit, but either going wrong would be unusual).

I wouldn't worry about the "weird symbols" coming up - sometimes I get those at the end of flashing new firmware after "updating...(2/2)". Sometimes I get the correct "please reboot" message. It doesn't seem to make a difference, the firmware loads correctly after a fresh boot.
