Global Settings for output assignment?

Hi,

i believe it would be great, if the LXR would save the assigned outputs as a global settings, it would make it a whole lot more easy to flick through various drumkits and they would come to the correct channels on the mixing desk. As of now, the drumkit also saves the output assignments, i see that there´s use for it but wouldn´t the other way be more convinient for studiouse?

cheers.

it sounds a good idea to me too :)

I have kicked this idea around for my FW. I agree it would be more useful when writing material, but the way I perform live relies on having the routing get recalled with a PC message(I have one stereo pair from LXR>Octatrack dry and one pair through FX, and which instruments go where changes throughout a set). This would be OK if the routing was loaded with 'performance' data, but as things stand 'perfs' only load kit and pattern. No global data. It's possible to fudge and have some settings get loaded, but adds a non-trivial amount of complication.

In the end, it makes an already complicated menu experience even more so. For example, there are things like track length in the kit menu that are actually pattern parameters. That's not ideal. What really needs to happen is there needs to be a 'track settings' menu page that stores with perf, that includes things like routing and midi channel/note, and then a 'pattern settings' menu page that includes things like track length and scale to make it totally clear what data gets stored where. Because I have a hard time remebering it all myself, and that's surely not a good sign.
  • hey, that doesn´t sound too good :)

The way this is implemented on the machinedrum is pretty nice, you have 8 slots for global settings, including outputs routing, you can switch them whenever you need to, independent from whatever kit you´ve loaded.

    thanks for your thoughts!
  • Thinking about this - another possibility would be to simply ignore the output assignments when loading indiviual voices in my FW. Wouldn't be able to flip through whole kits like that, but you would for just, say picking a snare, etc. This would be a very simple change to do. Thoughts?
  • I would apprechiate this a lot. thanks for your effort!
