Penrose - no gate with cv out patched

Did my build of Penrose Quantizer yesterday. Everything seems nice, except of one issue I'm unable to track down.

When there is no patch cable in CV OUT jack GATE outputs gate on voltage change as it should. When I insert cable to CV OUT - gate disappears. LED continues to light up when appropriate though.

I tried to look for shorts, check solder joints etc. without any success so far.

Last thing I tried:

* disconnect PCBs
* insert Jacklight to GATE out
* test for continuity on gate out jack pins with a multimeter
* without anything in CV out - Jacklight lights up when I test signal and ground pins.
* with cable in CV out - multimeter says 'beeeeeep'

It looks to me that with cv in patched there is a short somewhere between gate out signal and ground. However, I'm not sure where to look and my schematic reading skills are non-existent at this point. Any tips on concrete points I should look or general advice on debugging will be much appreciated as well.

  • A-a-a-a-and problem disappeared. I disassembled module again today, looked at schematics again more closely, poked around with multimeter probes, tried to reproduce issue with Jacklight again and issue is gone. I put module back together and into my rack and it seems that everything works now. I still don't know what is the cause, let's hope that issue will not arise again.
