Stuck while updating Firmware

edited June 2015 in Troubleshooting
Hi all,

I have tried to update my LXRs firmware from version 0.34 to the latest build following the instructions that I've found in the manual

At first it seems to run fine, but after ~24h it is still showing 'updating...(1/2)' while the LEDs keep counting. When I restart the box, the AVR code was updated since a different version is shown on startup and the LP2 filter option is available, although it does not affect the sound since the second update step was never executed. I've tried different SD cards and firmware versions, but I get always the same results.

Could I've missed something while formatting the SD cards or was I too impatient and need to keep the update running for more than 24h?

Thanks in advance!

  • The update does not take more than 2-3 minutes...i would try to re-flash the firmware.

is your AVR seatet completely in its socket?
The update should take about 1 minute max.

The thing is first the AVR is updated. It then tries to reset the mainboard processor and waits for its response. So when the Reset line to the mainboard has no contact it will wait forever. I should add a timeout there.

Also check the soldering on pin 21 of the AVR (upper right corner) and the pin labeled "NRST" on P2 (mainboard connector)

I guess you have not made a firmware update before?

The mainboards are all flashed using the bootloader here, So I doubt it's a fault with the mainboard ;)

  • Awesome, thanks for the detailed pointers.
The mainboard is fin, my shoddy soldering job on the NRST pin was the culprit :)

    Thanks a lot!
  • :) glad I could help
