headphone thingie

Hi folks, I have read a thread about someone who made a headphone out on his lxr. Apparently the outputs are too hot for most headphones. Would It be possible to put a simple potentiometre between two 6,5 mm Jacks and a female stereo jack or am I thinking too simple?

    I thought most people found the output to be too quiet to use with headphones. I've certainly plugged into one of the outputs on occasion and found the level to be fairly low. You might be better off putting a small headphone amp instead

    Haha, ok did not know that.
    Did not yet try it because I was afraid that I would wreck my headphones!
