LCD replacement question

Would an alphanumeric display work for the LXR like this? This is the only one I can find on this site that is less than 10mm in height and 16X2

    They tell me that alphanumeric is mostly letters and numbers and some simple characters. Will this work? Id actually rather not have all the crazy characters I have now on my current LCD. Too many characters to scroll through.

    That's what you want, a graphic one wont work.  If you have crazy characters on your display, there may be bad solder joints so check for those first

    Im talking about when I go to name something there are tons of characters that I just don't need. Also I just want to replace it because I don't like the one I have and there is a line in the middle of it that developed.

    normally any alphanumeric display should work. check for HD44780 compatibility to be sure. So the one from your link should work fine.

    regarding the characters you don't need. You will always have them. Either you will get western/chinese or western/russian fonts on those displays.

    It would need a software change to ommit those.

    ahh ok no worries I mainly just wanted a new one in general because mine has developed a line in it. Thanks!
