Could somebody give a clear indication what firmware release is "suitable" for general use? I know Marimba / Owl are not official but then again I don't think the standard release has been updated for a while - or I might be missing something

I've been playing with Marimba today with no issues but just wondering if Marimba is now the unofficial standard? Does Marimba take anything away from the standard firmware? And I'm not sure what Owl would give me

Cheers!
Ian

- I think that the offical firmware from Julian, Version 0.34 is fine. I did not hear any new bug since a long time. You are not the first guy to mention that the LXR versionning could cause some missunderstanding on its development state. For me the 0.34 is working fine ! no bug.
We should ask Julian to rename the version 0.34 to V1.0. There is a thread talking about this, I can't remember the link.

Take the Official firmware from Julian, 0.34 is perfect for general purposes.
If now you want to play with another flavor of the LXR, based on Julian code, you may take the Marimba or the OWL version. Both codes are based on Julian Code ... Version 0.33 ... not Version 0.34 (my fault, I will update Marimba and OWL soon).
Marimba is a version where you get new functions (random...) and two FX sections that are OTO biscuit oriented. Marimba is distortion oriented. Overdrive alike :-) I adviced to mute the KICK/BD if you want to really hear the FXs at their full potential.
OWL is a version where you get a compressor, OTO biscuit FX, and some other nice and musical effects. It's based on the Marimba code, so you get the same functions (random, etc). I added more parameters to twick,
OWL is more musical friendly (overdrive oriented) but you have one FX at a time..
For more details on OWL, you should look at the readme on the github, you will get a full description of the functions.
So taking Marimba or OWL is a matter of taste ;-)
Note that if there are some bugs, I will try to correct then on both firmware.. but I don't promise anything, as my main focus now is OWL.
Tell me if I am not clear or if I did not answer correctly to your questions.
Regards
note that I think you get agressive noize especially if you don't mute the BD/kick. I am now using another machine for the kick. Like this the FXs are much more musical... give it a try and tell me :-)
