[Solved] Problem finishing my lxr build. nF100 soldering is touching IC 74HC595

edited January 2015 in Troubleshooting
Hi everyone,

Am about to start STEP 18 and start soldering my ICs but i am scared that i will frie IC 74HC595 position U11. The ceramic capacitor nF100 at position C18 is touching the IC 74HC595 due to bad soldering. Its my second project of this kind. I build a shruti that was the first time i soldered in my life. I am sending some pictures to show whats going on. Is that a big problem? How can i fix it? i tryed with solder sucker with no luck.

I have another issue. When i did both voltages tests with my multimeter it shows a voltage value that ranges from 5.06-5.07-5.08. It keeps changing between those 3 numbers as if its not stable in one number. It doesnt settles in none of them keeps on changing between those. Is that a problem? or its normal? Or maybe my multimeter is not working properly.

Any thoughts ?
Thanx in advance.

  • That's no problem at all. In fact these 2 pads are already connected with a
PCB trace. Both are +5V. That's why you can't remove the solder. the small
line between the 2 pads is a trace. Only the 2nd pin is not connected to the
capacitor but that is not the case on your pictures. So you did everything
right and are good to go.

small fluctuating voltages in the range you measure are ok, too.
I doubt the multimeter is so accurate as to properly measure 2 decimal places
unless it is an expensive one.
  • Thank you, so fast.. solved.
