saving sounds and patterns together

edited June 2013 in General
I've made this mistake a few times now....I get a great sound and pattern going and so I save it to a slot, but when I revisit, the sound is obviously not the same because I only saved the pattern.

Is there a way to join these together and save as one?  Perhaps "save song" which would link the sound settings and pattern together?

  • definitely on my todo list!
    Added to the list.
  • In addition to that, a confirmation screen before saving to an existing sound/kit/pattern/watnot slot would be grrrreat!  :)>-

i lost my pattern with my melody stuff i did, as i didn't realise i was in Save mode instead of load :<
  • another wish:
what about saving tempo along a pattern?

@julian The MI Ambika has an interesting take on this. You can save Patches (individual synth sounds, minus step-sequencer, Arpeggiator etc.), and Multis. Multis are composed of several Patches, and also incorporate step-seq and arp settings. The innovation though, is that all the settings for the synth voices in the Multi are saved in the Multi itself, rather than merely referencing the original patches, as in the standard model for multi-timbal synths. This obviously means an Ambika Multi takes up more space that an equivalent multi-channel setup on a standard synth, but you don't have to worry about tweaking a patch, saving it, then finding out later that you've screwed up another multi-channel setup that referenced the same patch.

This is a step further than i think admviolin has in mind, but i definitely think it's worth considering a similar all-in-one file-type for the LXR.

Anyone else any thoughts on this?

and while you are at it versioning would be nice..... so i can undo any changes. There should be plenty of space on a 8gb card
