Can't sequence lxr from ableton?

edited December 2014 in Troubleshooting
I've been trying to get this to work for a while now. Sort of driving me a bit crazy.

If I boot up the lxr and try to trigger the lxr via ableton drum rack, it appears to trigger all the voices at the same time. But any changes to the voice channel or Note parameter means no sounds at all. Very strange.

Can anyone help?

  • The first time I used my LXR with ableton I had te same behavior.
Check for the midi filtering parameter first, then carefully assign each voice to a specific note. Set up all of them. Don't forget to save your preset (the note setting is preset dependent and need to be parametered on all your presets if you wish to sync em all with ableton)

Thanks for info, going to try this out and see what happens. I did already assign each voice to its own note, but maybe I didn't do it carefully enough, or had the wrong midi filtering settings.

    working now!

there's some weird offset with the midi note numbers and the actual notes. So C1 or 36 on lxr is actually C-1 in ableton. So thats what was going on. Thanks for your help tho

needing to do this for each preset is sort of a bummer, but I guess could be worse.

  • Yes there is an offset compared to ableton. That's just the way it is, once you know it, it is just fine. As for the preset thing I guess it is just coherent with the fact that the LXR is a sequencer in itself and is not made primarily to be sequenced. I work with ableton too and there is a lot of things that I am struggling with (like proper sync and slaving the LXR) but I kind of like the fact that I have to know the machine more to bend it to my needs.
Everyone has different needs and setup.

Yea, offset wasn't a big deal, was just explaining for posterity why setting the notes per voice didn't work at first.

I also had trouble with sync before, but gave up as I was centralizing sequencing with ableton since I got push. I just don't need another seqeuncer + pattern management to deal with, with a otb / hybrid, I'm finding it better to centralize sequencing. But I understand what you mean in terms of lxr being a sequencer in its own right, I mean, that how I was using it up till now.
