setting up tracks for MIDI out s

So, in the moment all of my track are on the same channel, midi triggering one hard synth. What i would like is having one track triggering external gear, and rest of the tracks triggering internal drum synths. How do i do that, couldn t find it in the manual ;) ?

  • last of the function buttons, second page. Set midi channel of each track individually. That what you mean?

    @devilwidget

yes, ive done that , but no matter what ch i select, all tracks are triggering hw synth and that synth is on ch 1, is there anything else i have to do? maybe something in the global settings? thnks for your time btw !

    ps

my lxr is running on custom firmware from one of the forum coders (brendanclarke) maybe it is a bug?? ill try it  out tomorrow again.. good night :)
  • Yeah, that's a possibility, I don't often use my LXR to sequence other things. I'll check it against the stock .34 tonight. I might not have time to fix it right away, but I'll make a note of it!
    Thanks!
  • I'm pretty sure I have BC's firmware loaded, and i use mine primarily to sequence external synths...

    Problem solved!

The problem was it is not enough to set the desired track to certain midi ch, it is also necessary to set ALL the other tracks too. By default, tracks are set to ch 0, and that will send trigger to any midi ch. At least in my case it was like that. Thanks devilwidget :)

While we are at it, my Lxr got frozen today while i was on pattern page rotating voices and re triggering them, maybe it is bug, but maybe it is just my universal power supply (500mA).. wort to say it thou

Thanks for the heads up! I haven't messed with any of the rotation code (yet), but I'll look into that when I have some time! Did the freeze come with any other symptoms?

The Midi channel '0' is something I added as well, in case people have very complicated channel setups and want to make only a few LXR channels available while blocking transmission to the others. So in my firmware, the MIDI channels go from '0' (off) to 16. I'll do something where it says 'off' instead of 0 at some point to make it less confusing :)

Thanks for doing all the work, if i am of any help to you it will make me fell less guilty, loading ind.voices is really important to me, it is allowing me to build kits much much faster :)

Ch 0 is transmitting on all midi channels here, should it be other way around ( like you said "off", not sending triggers on any ch) ?

Yeah, first it won't stop re triggering in perf mod ( like the button is stuck ), and than it stopped triggering internal synths ( no sound on output at all, just sequencer running ).

  • Yeah i better take the channel 0 thing off for now. Were you switching patterns when it locked up like that? I want to take a good look at the rotation code sometime, that might be helpful.

I wont have time to do much programming for the next week but i might put an update up tonight...  I made a little change where I f you set the velocity of a step to 0, the note doesn't retrigger, you just get the automation, like elektron's 'trigless trigs'. It is pretty awesome, it saves me having to use the workaround of triggering modulation from other tracks.
  • No, i wasn't switching patterns. Rotation is great :)
