SD Card issues

I've just bought myself some new SD cards to try out the different firmwares now available and I get nothing but 'SD error' messages when trying to use them.

they are these - http://www.mymemory.co.uk/SDHC/Lexar/Lexar-Premium-16GB-Class-10-200x-30MB_s-High-Speed-SDHC-Memory-Card they happened to be on deal at my local store.

I've had a look for SD card specs required for the LXR and cannot find any details, are there certain card sizes/specs that will not work?

normally any sd card should work.
so far there have been 1 or 2 cards reported that for some reason did not work.

how are they formatted?

Fat32 through Windows. 

I also tried formatting with Fat on a Mac just in case, I've tried 2 of them so far, I bought 4 so I'll try the other two tonight.

What is the recomended brand and type of sd card?

Only the old SD work well and the SDHC new version isn't compatible with the LXR?

Yea I think there is some issues when using sdhc cards in general.

Well that's also what I thought but the card trouble I had we're coming from my old 512mb as card I extracted if an old tomtom navigation system. Now with my sandisk 4gb sdhc card, LXR is working perfectly.

yea was going to say the size also can make a difference, I can see the 512mb version of the card being as old as they are causing issues. I think you want at least 1gb but not more than 4gb. The weird thing is that it doesn't really have to do with their being a space requirement so much as the ways in which the sd cards were/are made.

With the sd card you show me is 2gb and you cant format as fat32 if am right only fat16, but with the fat16 format as the julian say you cant make s firmware update

Mine is 2gb and is formatted fat16. My lxr works just fine. I didn't have any troubles going from previous version to 0.34
