boots ok then a minute later crazy characters on OLED

edited October 2014 in Troubleshooting
I just completed building my LXR and it passed the power supply tests fine. I went to boot with the OLED mounted and it boots ok then less than a minute later crazy characters on the OLED.

If I boot without a SD card, the OLED remains fine for slightly longer.

Any Ideas? I wonder if it is the SD card.

  • ok, I tried a second SD card, and still the same issue.

If I remove the main board it does not crash.
If I hold down the encoder while booting, it has no issues going into boot loader and letting me update the OS.

I am using a +12V 1.2A power supply, so i don't think it is the supply.

  • ok, reseated the AVR, and reflowed anything that looked he least but suspect. I think it may have been one leg on the caps that are for the xtal.
no more crashing, just no sounds. I have the main board attached, sd card inserted, hit start add some steps and hear nothing, regardless of which jack my audio cables are plugged into.

  • I figured it out. When I checked the switch pin on the output jacks, I remember reading they should measure 5VDC when a jack is plugged in. I was measuring 2.2VDC. This made m think possibly the reference for my meter reading was somehow off, so I started looking at anywhere AGND and GND went.

I took a look at the Mianboard and noticed R13, which jumps AGND to GND was not in right and was instead between the header pin for AGND and AGND. I fixed it and I have audio!!!
Yay! Off to make music. This machine sounds awesome!!
