edited September 2014 in Troubleshooting
Hi,

I'm mounting the LXR kit.

Without audiocard, the LED lighting correctly. When I plug the audio card no LED is lighting.
I have control the ship orientation,

Do you now where i can make measurements ?

Thanks for your help.

so without the mainboard/audio card everything works so far and with the card the machine is dead?

could you measure continuity between the 3V3 and GND pin on P1 (mainboard connector) without the mainbaord attached?

on first sight the soldering looks good.
  • could you also post a picture of the top of the mainboard/audio card?

it sounds like a short somewhere. maibe some cut of resistor leg or  a little bit of solder got onto the mainboard.

  • On P1,

    pin 23-24 it's ok I have +5v continuity.
    pin 21-22 it's not ok, I have +2.3v on power on, after 120sec I have only +0.9v.

  • The top of the audio card
  • the way it works is like this

    P1, 5V -> mainboard LF33 voltage regulator -> 3.3V -> P1 3.3V

5V are supplied from the front to the mainboard via P1.
The LF33 on the mainboard makes the 3.3V for the STM32 chip.
these 3.3V are returned to the P1 connector (used for the HC4050 IC)

there should be no continuity (multimeter beeps when the 2 probes touch) between 3V3 and 5V as well as no connection between 3V3 and GND.
    pin 21-22 it's not ok, I have +2.3v on power on, after 120sec I have only +0.9v.
this is with the mainboard attached?
  • No the mainboard is not attached.

They are no continuity between 3V3 and 5V
They are no continuity between 3V3 and GND

    I must make measure on LF33 ?

do you measure stable 3V3 volt with the mainboard attached on P1?
  • Yes, with the mainboard attached on P1, I have stable 3.33V on pin 21-22 and stable 4.80V on pin 23-24.
  • you don't have the display installed yet?
I'd say install it so we can better see what's happening.
since the voltages are stable there should be no short.

at the moment I'm clueless, but with the display we could see at least some error messages.
  • I have now installed the display.
No error message on power on :

ok. but at least the display is showing the menu.
besides the LEDs, is the rest working?
can you navigate the menu and load presets?

the question now is if just the LEDs have a fault or if the rest is not working, too.
  • Not Working. The audio output is crackling song only.
The display is set. I can not navigate the menu.
  • is the menu working without the mainboard/audiocard installed?
  • Yes, but when I press the Shift button I have this:
