Weird MIDI note (not) triggering from Octatrack?

edited September 2014 in General
Hi Guys,
I'm experiencing some unexpected behavior when trying to sequence the LXR voices from an Octatrack. I've set the midi note and channel in the OT correctly, and I can play a sound on the LXR, either from the OT sequencer or from the trigger buttons in 'chromatic' mode but - here's the kicker - only once every 2 seconds or so. If I send two MIDI notes less than a few seconds apart, the second one gets ignored. This seems to apply only to notes on the same MIDI channel - If I assign Drum 1 to channel 1, C1 and Snare to channel 1, C#1 I cannot play them together, but if I assign the snare to channel 2, I can (though I still have to wait the 2 seconds or so on each channel to retigger).

I originally thought this might be an issue with the OT not sending note offs correctly, but I can play my volca keys just fine from the sequencer with the sustain/release responding correctly so I'm not sure. Any leads on the LXR or OT would be welcome.

In case this is something weird with a global setting, here they are for me:
bpm=0
qnt=16
ch=16
txf=all
rxf=all
mrt=off
fch=off
flw*=on
ssv=on
pcr=on
cki=1
co1*=1
co2=1
mod=off

Thanks!

    Bump.  Same problem here sequenced from a midibox Seq V4.  LXR firmware v.34

    Are the old firmware images available anywhere?  I'd like to see if older firmware versions have external midi triggers setups that work with the seq V4...
  • Step recording from an external source also isn't working for me - tried from the SEQ V4 and from a keyboard.  I can trigger from the keyboard, but the LXR doesn't record the steps.  Has something drastically changed in the LXR's implementation of external midi triggering/recording that I might not understand?  I haven't been following the forums here too closely for the past few months.
  • I did a quick test of step recording from an external source (a DAW) sending note to LXR C-3 voice 1 C-3# voice 2 etc. on Chanel 1. The LXR record the step but i must select the voice for the step to be recorded perhaps cause they have all the same chanel. My settings under (shift+load/save) = [BPM 0] [qnt 32] [ch 1] [txf off] [rxf all] [mrt off] [fch off] [flw on] [ssv on] [pcr off] [cki 1] [co1 1] [co 2 4] [mod off].
    Hope that's help
  • I had similar problems with an octatrack and eventually gave up but...

  • I've had similar problems. The LXR note is delayed or not always played.
    Using transport to the LXR works well. So I just use the LXR sequencer.

    I'm wondering when rxf = all, the LXR can't handle the extra data from the Octatrack so it becomes delayed or dropped.
  • Seems to be a weird combination of external clock with individual track note settings. I have posted results of my experiments at this thread: http://forum.sonic-potions.com/discussion/444/missing-midi-triggers#Item_18

    Best,
    Christoph
