SD card error

edited July 2014 in General
hi

got my LXR today and seems to have worked fine.
unfortunately I connected a 9AC, not DC, power supply at first.
- on first boot with the AC it said SD card ok, but the sequencer would not run on play.
- then I connected a DC power supply with correct specs:image
with the correct DC power supply the sequencer runs fine but I get now a "SD card not detected" error.
no sound is generated but that might be related to init sound settings. strangely I got once audio out (with the DC power supply), but not anymore.

any hints what I could try?
hope I did not shred the entire mainboard.

thanks!

  • The LXR should be protected against AC PSUs and wrong polarity. There is a protection diode in place.
is the sequencer running now with the propper PSU?

No sound is normal with no patch loaded.

regarding the SD card. is the HC4050 IC soldered propperly? maybe there is a bad solder joint there?
  • thanks for the fast reply julian.

I did not solder it myself, have contacted my builder.

yes, running with the PSU above.
should it be possible to create patches get audio out with "SD card not detected" and "Kit read error"?

  • you could also try another SD card... just in case.
the synth works without an sd card, but you have to tweak some parameters first.
I think without an SD car the voice volume is set to zero and the envelopes may be set to minimum.
  • hi julian. thanks. tried a new sd card. works :)
maybe I fried the sd card somehow with the incorrect PSU.
generating sounds without a SD card did not seem to work for me, btw.
