outs are noisey

edited June 2014 in Troubleshooting
I have some issues with the outputs of my LXR. 3 and 4 seem to be noisier too. I get a nice 1k-2k hum from it(almost test tone sounding). Its definitely audible. Any idea how to improve the noise of it? I don't really mind it too much as I like dirty sounds but i tend to like to inject the dirty on my own instead of it being inherent. Also Im not using the USB for ground loop reasons.

Its really only on the outs 3/4.

I boosted the signal a bit but here is what I am hearing when I record parts from outs 3/4:

    Audio

    Pic of spectrum:

  • Spikes in the higher frequency range do come mostly from weak or unclean power supplies. I had an similar problem during the rearrangement of my studio a few days ago. I used a wall wart  with a splitter cable to fire up two Shruthis and the LXR and experienced the same issue. After switching the LXR to a new power supply it was gone. But unlike hum in the lower frequencies these issues are possibly harder to overcome, because of the countless causes behind these. I know guys which had severe problems with the power distribution of the house, so that they were forced to use Furman power filters.
  • definetly not normal and no ground loop.
the tone is much too steady for a gnd loop.

has this been always the case or did it start recently?
  • Not really sure because I only used the 1/2 for a while. Once I added 3/4 I started to notice.

Where do these outputs go: mixer ? If yes, then routed to a bus ? If yes, are there bypassed FX on the sends ? Interface ? Buspowered by USB?

They goto mackie onyx. fx sends were all turned down and I swapped channels, cables etc to rule out bad channels on the board and bad cables. The hum is coming from the outs on the LXR. Also tried the power in different outlets as well. Also like I said its only really noticeable in 3/4. 1/2 seem to be pretty quiet.
  • Now I have an issue where I plug in a jack to one of the trigger outs and outs 1 and 2 begin to have this same high pitched sound. Any ideas of what to check?
  • I have been having the same issue. I had changes in the volume of the noise without doing something in particular, but in general, using the lxr's audio and trigger outs at the same time is not really usable...
I really hope there will be a fix on this issue, because the combination of trigs and own sound is one of the things that make the lxr amazing!!
