This thing is DOPE !!

edited May 2014 in General
Just a quick post about my experience building the LXR.
I was able to slap it together without any panel or enclosure in about 3.5 hours & was instantly making beats.
What a great gritty & unique sounding drum machine ! Mucho character!  I cant wait to build the trig outputs pcb.
Thank you Julian for making this available to DIYers.
For any one who has one on the shelf & is waiting to make an enclose first, ...just build it!
My only feedback is that it would be even easier to build if the IC sockets were soldered to the board directly after the resistors while the board can still lay flat (i followed the directions) BUT I have absolutely zero complaints, I burned my fingers a little while inserting the IC sockets but hey its ok to feel the heat sometimes. This drum machine is on fire !
cheers!

  • Glad you are sharing the joy most of us felt when we fired up the LXR the first time!

I built it way back when it launched and still think it is a characterful drum machine with a unique set of abilities.

You should wait for the metal enclosure it will be just great!

I agree. This machine is dope!
Just made this quick n simple 1 bar pattern and mangled it a bit in Performance Mode for showcasing the LXR in a facebook group. I could go on for hours. :D
