[solved] Problems with firmware update

I recently purchased an LXR second hand. The
machine had firmware 0.27 on it and when I updated to the latest 0.32 I
encountered some problems. Firstly, I can't load my performances anymore.
Secondly the user wave kits that I made sound completely messed up. I then
decided to re-flash 0.27 hoping this would return my machine to the way it
was but the user waves still sound weird.
Is there some way I can download the original files that come with the machine so that I can return my machine back to it's default settings. That way I can
just copy my performance patches from my card.

Thanks

  • Saving and loading performances is only supported by rudeog's firmware: https://github.com/rudeog/LXR
And you have to reload your user wave samples after each firmware update.

  • Thanks for the reply. So how many different firmware versions are there? Which one should I use? The problem I'm having is not with the user waves, it's the samples that come with the machine.
  • The factory preset kits are on this sd card image: http://sonic-potions.com/public/SdCardImage.zip
On rudeog's github site is a very good description of features and differences between his and the official firmware.
  • Brilliant! That's all I need. Thanks, cj55.
  • I'm currently working on including rudeogs changes in the official firmware.
So soon the performance patches will be available in the official version 0.33.

what samples that come with the machine do you mean?
coming from the factory there are no samples installed besides the transient samples on the 'click' page

samples for the normal oscillators have to be uploaded by the user from the SD card, using .wav files.

Maybe the previous owner uploaded some user samples to the machine?
  • Hi Julian. Yeah, it was the samples on the click page that I was referring to. For some reason when I went from 0.27 to 0.32 any patches that used these click samples sounded very distorted and lofi. I also noticed that the guy I bought it of had formatted the card to fat16 and not fat 32. Might this have caused a problem?
  • fat16 should be ok.
I updated the filesystem code some versions ago.

I will try out the click samples here to confirm if it is a general problem or specific to your unit.
maybe just try updating the firmware once again?
  • Are the click samples saved on the sd card or are they saved in flash memory?
  • samples are working here with 0.32
so maybe try the update again

  • Everything's working fine now. Thanks for the help.
  • great!
