[solved] Help needed - weird encoder behaviour

I built a LXR (top quality DIY kit - Julian, you did a very good job here!) and everything works perfectly fine except for the click encoder. It tends to wildly mix increment and decrement steps. For example if I turn it clockwise it goes like "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 10, 9, 10, 11" and so on. The same applies to turning it counterclockwise.

Did anybody here have a similar problem or has an idea what causes this issue? Checked the whole board. All solder joints are fine, no shorts, nothing.

Comments

  • I found out the reason for this behaviour. Sadly my kit came with a defective push encoder. If I push the knob slightly to the right side while turning it, it works as it should.
  • damn. are you able to get a replacement locally or should i send you a working one?
  • If you could send me a working one, that would be great. The last store selling electronic components in town closed some time ago.

I'll send you a PM with my adress.

Thank you very much for your effort!

Just replaced the part. Everything works fine now. Very happy with the machine and support.  :@)
