Clock resolution and tape sync question

edited April 2014 in General
Hi,

Today I tried to slave my Sequential Drumtraks to the LXR and vice versa, which didn't work out. After checking the midi guide I found out that the Drumtraks sends and accepts clock resolutions in multitudes of 24ppq (24, 48 and 96). Would it be possible to add these to the LXR clock settings as well?

Something else I wondered about is the ability to send and accept an FSK sync tone via the clock IO's. I often work with an analog multitrack that I connect to a sequencer with fsk capability in order to record layer upon layer in sync. It would be great to integrate the LXR into this workflow as well.

Thanks!

  • the 24ppq mod is on my todo list (then it could also support din sync)

regarding tape fsk sync - never heard of it before ;)
a quick search turns up this
    http://bytenoise.co.uk/Tape_sync
so I would only have to output 2 different frequencies instead of high or low signals?
    should be doable.
  • Thanks!

I tried recording a standard clock pulse to a tape track, but for some reason the LXR won't sync to it... so an fsk sync tone input/output would be cool.

Hope you had a good holiday, Julian!

  • I managed to sync the LXR to tape via using an Alesis HR-16 drumbox as the converter, so the fsk problem is solved on my end.

    Thanks
