Midi Lxr and Shruthi question

edited April 2014 in General
Hey! I just finished a midnight shruti and i love sequence it with the lxr. But i notice something. When i set the transmit midi option to all( i use N usually), when i change the pattern (not loading a new one, just change pattern set), the lxr seems to send message that change the shruti filters settings, like a cutoof higher, more resonnance. Its not arbitrary, the changes seems to be implemented which the pattern. My question where are the messages come from, ho to control them?  THANK YOU

  • funny, i have a shruti to and i didn't noticed that....i may try it once again to confirm
  • I use ableton for the master send to chnl one. I use a track of the lxr set to send to 1 to sequence the shruti. ANd i have the dualsvf filter. I guess that the lxr transmit cc or nprn to the shruti, but why? ANd which messages ? If there is a way to control its awsome but i dont understand so its just randomness weird filter action.
  • I have not noticed this happening with my Shruthi-1 with CEM filter at all

It transmits a program change message when you switch to a different subpattern. So it transmits PC 1 to 8 as you switch those sub-patterns. The Shruthi is interpreting this as a program change and loading a different program probably. You can turn it off by making sure the transmit option on the LXR does not include the letter P and is not "all" (which implicitly includes P).
There is a different thread where we were discussing a more configurable PC setting.

    great which one?????

    :-))
  • Yeah thanks for the hints i have to dig more in the shruti functions now :)
  • I do have the same/different question.
How is it possible to sync the Shruti with the LXR.
    LXR is the master.
BPM in Shruti is set to ext.
TXFilter in LXR is set to R, only for the Clock and Start/Stop Signal.
Now the Shruti is not playing.
But if I set the LXR TXFilter to RN, the Shruti only get the triggered notes out of the LXR, but no sequence.
    Mabe a little bit misunderstanding.

And sorry for my bad english.

    THX Frank
  • The only thing I can think of is that the patch on the Shruthi isn't set to Seq...
  • +1 mmarsh i will try it soon. i never use the seq of the shruthi so i have to dig a little more.
  • Thanks mmarsh. I wanna try it this evening.

What i found in the LXR manual: "At the moment the sequencer is only transmitting note on trigger messages to the MIDI out."

    Mabe that is the reason.....

The Shruthi sequencer won't play unless it get's a note on message.

I set a pattern aside on the LXR to trigger the shruthi sequencer. The lack of note-off's on the LXR means the shruthi sequencer never stops unless you change shruthi patches or change the mode from "seq" to "stp".

     From the Shruthi manual..
    "seq: pattern player

In this mode, the pattern programmed in the sequencer is triggered by playing a note on the keyboard. Depending on the note you play, the pattern is transposed: play C4 to play the pattern as recorded, C#4 to play it one semi-tone higher, B3 to play it one semi-tone lower, etc. The pattern will stop whenever the key is released — but the clock will continue ticking for the duration of a bar – and if a key is pressed during this interval, the pattern will resume in time. This mode is most useful for playing and transposing a bassline."
  • THX widdly.
    I will try it later.
  • You can trigger the sequencer by pressing the first button of the shruthi a long time (one or twice) in seq mode. I would be sync with the lxr and save you a track.
  • The LXR has sent note-off since v0.26 - the manual is out of date
  • yea i used to have the same problem with old os but with the last there's no problem any more
  • in the upcoming OS version 0.33 the note off will be send when the amp envelope reaches zero.
so the midi note will have the same length as the sound played by the lxr and can be controlled with amp eg automatisations
  • Whow thats a great news!
  • yea! go on julian. you do azn excelent job with this! my bank say you: thanx a lot sir!
    >:D<
  • Hi to everyone.
Ive got it, it works. It was my fault, a mix between "user error" und RTFM.

    @julian great job, Dankeschön....
