So what are you all triggering?

edited March 2014 in General
I installed the trigger extension, which was painless and works great. I'm using two triggers to drive the arpeggiator of my Juno 60 and the sequencer of my JX3P. Very cool for doing randomly shifting melody patterns. But since I have so many triggers at hand I'm interested in getting more trigger-able gear.

Those 80's Simmons drum modules (SDS-8 etc) seem like a fun thing to have. What are you guys triggering? Any suggestions?

Sounds like it's triggering GAS! hahahahha

(I have to admit liking the idea of the trigger out, ordering a kit, then actually buying some gear I can trigger....so far I have resisted)

  • my euro modular, futureretro xs, and soon a Ruin Electronics quaddrum (should be next on the bench).
  • my eurorack modular :)
  • Nothing yet... :(  I realized after I built the expansion that I don't have any 3.5mm cables to test with.
Hoping to trigger my Anushri later this weekend.
  • same as loderbast
  • I found this old school DIY drum synth project on another forum. Looks like a cool thing to make and use with the LXR, although the pcb's would have to be custom made and suitable replacements would be needed for parts that are no longer in production...
  • Only my eurorack so far.
  • I also don't have anything to trigger. I was thinking of this kit:

Which uses a piezo disk as a sensor. Does anyone know how it could be made compatible with the trigger outs?

I am using the clock of the trigger extension for a self-built MFOS WSG with included baby08 sequencer. It's great fun to play with!
Here it is (I used an old VHS box for the case):

  • I'm currently working on my own cv/gate sequencer, and happily using the clock input of the lxr:

The monotribe with clock and ms 20 with clock / triggers.
  • modular but .32 has a shuffle bug when synched to external midi time code. It dosen't work. Can you look at this please julian! :)
  • Just got mine built -all works great!!   Updated to .32 loaded some samples and everything.  AWESOME MACHINE!!    (Except for the button caps not fitting right)

I'm going to use the trig outs with my 777 and see how they play together..

  • @shaduz looks cool. is that an LED ring from top-up I see there or a DIy version?

@rudeog I never worked with piezos before, but I think they just generate a small voltage pulse when hit.
So probably wou should be able to trigger the circuit with the trigger IO, too. maybe you need to change an input resistor on the synare. Do they have a schematic there as well?  But I think the fun of the synare is the piezzo trigger after all ;)

  • Thanks Julian. I didn't find a schematic on their site, but did find this:

@julian the inner bargraph is: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11492
and the outer one is the adafruit 16 leds one: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1463
    Those WS2812 are really great!

  • @rudeog I can trigger a mattel synsonics with no problem. All i did was instal jacks that connect to the same points where the piezo pads go. works great. not sure if the synare works the same way though. but, why not? :)
  • Thanks guys. I'm sure the synare works the same as the synsonics if they both have a piezo pad (but then, what do I know :-)
It seems like it should work.

Here is a small live jam I did using an LXR with trigger extension for triggering a Music From Outer Space WSG with included analog step sequencer. So, DIY stuff only. :D

  • i trgger my little shruti and it's nice to make some good basses
    =P~
