ableton sync with 0.30 firmware

edited March 2014 in Troubleshooting
hi all,

still really struggling to get the LXR synced with Ableton, or even to respond coherently to midi signal.

with midi ports = nothing at all, cannot get it to pickup regardless of which channel
with USB = random speeds, random connectivity

could someone please let me know if there's any particular settings i should try with ssv mrt txt & RXF?

hope you can help... 3 days reading all the threads on this forum, the manual, & the new firmware release notes and still no closer to solving.

  • I will try this today with ableton as I got to investigate the LFO midi sync bug, too.
    Are you running a mac? USB midi is known to cause trouble with midi clock on OSX at the moment :(
    But the normal midi ports should work fine
  • yeah, on mac OSX 10.9

    i had read that USB was causing some issues, which i am experiencing (double speed etc)
    on the midi ports, in or out, nada :(

    OK I just tried syncing to ableton live via the normal midi ports.
    with the 'rxf' parameter set to 'all' or 'R' it works without problems for me.
    BPM set to '0' for external sync.

    the rxf parameters sets the midi filter for the incoming midi messages.
    if it is set to all, nothing is filtered, all messages are passed.

  • I noticed that the midi sync, while working in general, somehow has quite a lot of jittter suddenly.
    anyone else noticed this?
    I'm sure it used to work like a charm the last time I tried it, which was quite a while ago.
    So I'm trying to find the problem that causes the sync to misbehave.
    don't know at the moment what could have been changed to cause this jitter or if it is just my crappy m-audio midi interface :-p
  • Yes, setting to R worked, thanks Julian!

    2 more questions, if you don't mind:

    Is it possible to trigger it from ableton? if so, what are the settings on the LXR?

    Is it possible to switch the out port to thru mode, so i can lock the LXR with ableton & other synths with my sync-gen box?
  • Julian, is it the usb sync or all of the midi sync? (ie does it still jitter if you sync against other hardware?)
  • I just tried it with a stable hardware clock soure and there it works perfect as I remembered.
    So I assume it has to do with a jittery MIDI clock from my PC. (windows 7 with din plugs, no USB tested so far)
    I will try another interface later today.
  • @Squirts soft thru mode is possible.

    Midi routing (midi soft thru). You can route midi messages from input to
    output. This is set in the global menu under "mrt". There are 6
    possible values:
    off - no routing,
    U2M - usb midi is routed to midi out
    port;
    M2M - midi received on midi in port is routed to midi out port;

    A2M - both usb and midi are routed to midi out port;
    M2U - midi input
    port is routed to usb output port;
    M2A - midi received on midi port is
    routed to both midi output and USB output.
