Transient samples

If you have suggestions for transient samples let me know.
Max length is 50ms in signed 8 bit pcm format
Should be royalty free material.

At the moment they will be hard coded into the firmware.
User sample upload via SD card may be a future update but is not planned yet.

  • I can send you one of my Procussions to have a look/hear. I guess Emu wont sue you when you sample them by yoursleves....
  • I'd love some Casiotone/Portasound/organ rhythm box cheese :-)  But on the other hand perhaps that is easier to program...
  • Would it be a problem to make transient samples from all the famous beatboxes? It's free to use them in your music so i don't see there is a problem using them as transient samples.
It would be nice to have a collection of Linndrum, TR-X0X, Kawai R100, etc etc kicks and snare transients...
I wonder if 50 ms is enough for clap transients.
I've got a collection of samples here from almost all drum machines and i've got quite a lot of vintage drummachines at home so i could make some 50ms samples if it would help you.

  • transient sample are more intended to provide different kind of click and pop sounds for the beginning of the sound. hence the 50ms limit and low quality (8 bit)

There should be quite some flash memory left on the STM32.
So it would be possible to add custom waves/samples (like the 909 crash/cymbal you can select as an osc. waveform. But I think I won't address this until the current features are all working. ;)

So 50ms is enough for a 808 clap transient :)
Change the .txt for .wav ... It's 44.1khz 8 bit wav

Will the firmware be open source? will we be able to make our own build with our own transients?
  • As far is i know Julian i bet sooner or later there will be a "Transients" Folder on the SD and you just throw them in.....
  • just added it to the sourcecode for the next update :)

Firmware will be open source (but I think it will be a non commercial license).
I just have to tidy it up a little bit before uploading it to github.
