RLED resistors

edited February 2014 in General
Hi All -

Building the LXR and I see there is a space for a bunch of RLED resistors.  MY kit only came with a single 221R, the one for one of the red led's.  Is my kit not complete? Should I leave these all blank?  The instructions are not clear, there is no instruction for soldering them in, yet some of the photos have resistors in all of these positions.

A little help?

Thanks,

Mike

  • Your kit is complete. Just follow the assambly instructions. So leave all the RLED blank. Some photos in the instructions are from an older version of the board. The one LED current limiting resistor (221R) is R7 and has to be soldered.
  • Thanks! Onward then...
  • And finished!  Sounds GREAT :) need to get a glue gun for those button knobs though...
  • Curious about these limiting resistors. Why is there only one used for one of the red LED's and not for the other red LED?

the resistors got replaced by resistor arrays in the newer revision of the board.
i think the pads for the single resistors were left there in case one uses some kind of fancy leds that need a different current limiting resistor value that is unavailable as an array.
no idea why there is still one resistor needed. from the schematics it looks like there are two unused resistors in the arrays. maybe its a routing issue.

Yeah I figured that out once I started wondering why there were so damn many arrays.  Much better several arrays than boatloads of resistors :)

This is a cool little beast, once I got my head around several ways of working with it.  Multiple synth types, varying menus, etc. But once you learn it tres cool.
  • I thought about this as I was posting. Nice to have some clarification though. I've got all my components sitting here waiting on the PCBs. They got stuck in Germany for almost a week, now they are stuck in New York for probably an equal amount of time. Pain in the butt, but I am fairly patient.
  • I added a note to the pitfalls/read first section in the assembly guide.
I'll try to replace the wrong images, but I don't know when I will build the next LXR ;)
