Firmware 0.27 does not sync over midi - (solved)

edited January 2014 in Troubleshooting
Hello,

maybe I missed something, but I have trouble with syncing my gear over midi since I updated my lxr from version 0.21 to 0.27. It doesn't matter if the lxr is the master or it is in slave mode. As master my other gear won't start with the lxr and vs the lxr will not start in slave mode. I have changed nothing in my wiring. When I go back to version 0.21 everything is fine.
I just replaced the firmware file on the SD card with 0.27 / 0.21. Do I have to change anything else in version 0.27?

A funny thing (Version 0.21): When my MC 303 is the Midi Clock Master and connected directly to the lxr there is an audible delay when each machine is playing just a simple base drum. Is it possible that the lxr has a little timing issue or is it the MC 303? When the lxr is the master, the timing sounds tight.

But back to the topic - thank you :)

  • When LXR is slave did you verify that BPM is set to 0?
  • Thanks Rudedog for the hint. Yes LXR BPM is set to 0. MC 303 sync is set to internal. Wiring MC 303 Midi OUT to LXR Midi In. Press start on MC 303 the LXR does not start, even when I press the play button on the LXR. In Firmware Version 0.21 this setup works fine.
    I will test a different Firmware Version and SD Card this evening.
  • OK got it. I downloaded Julian's firmware version 0.27. Now syncing works fine in both directions. The timing  issue is also solved. Thanks to rudedog.

    Same problem here with v0.30 and syncing as a slave to an octatrack. Fixed it by using a fresh SD Card. I used the same firmware.bin file on both cards and as fas as i can see the LXR works fine with both cards, its just when run by the "original" card it refuses to receive clock and transport.

    Its my first update to the LXR. Is there anything i have to take care of when exchanging the firmware files, or is it just delete old one; copy new one?
  • Yes, just delete old one, copy new one.

  • ok, thanks.

    i could fix the original card by setting rxf to R as you suggested in your custom firmware thread. But btw what do mrt, txf and rxf stand for?
  • MRT = midi routing
    TXF = midi transmit filter
    RXF = midi receive filter
