New Year Build, WIP case design

edited January 2014 in General
DONE!! Actually finished on the day of the 1st (I spread it out over the course of the holidays). Worth noting this is only the second thing I've ever put together. The 1st being a byoc guitar pedal. Says something to the quality of the layout and instructions. Thanks Julian!

Only issue I had was soldering the female connectors on the wrong side and had to basically destroy them to remove as desoldering with braid was not enough.

Working on an enclosure design, pobably be anoded alum & birchply sides with fill in engraving and some laser etching. Still sorting out graphics and some labels:

  • Looking forward to see the real thing !
  • that looks nice.
  • I want to second the praise about the excellent building instructions. They are excellent, did I already mention that?

I built a PreenFM2 kit over the holidays and although the PCB and partcount is smaller and less complicated, I – with only about one year of soldering and electronics experience – had lots of troubles understanding the instructions and bringing the PreenFM2 to life.

Building the LXR was nothing like that. It was easy and fun – apart from the resistor network confusion and me looking for a big pack of current limiting resistors for the LEDs ;).

Thank you Julian for your very carefully prepared instructions!
