power supply? center tip negative.

edited December 2013 in General
Hi, first post.  just got my LXR the other day.  the power supply i received with it says center tip negative, but i see in the manual it wants center tip positive.

i don't want to damage my device, but the power supply seems to work fine for the 10-20 minutes i had it plugged in.  wondering if this is okay, if there is some protection built into the device? or should i seek out a center positive adapter?

thanks!

  • if the synth powers up everything is fine.
There is a polarity protection, so you can't damage anything.
  • You can as well put Diesel in your regular Petrol Car, this will work ok for some minutes…..

Honestly, i have no schematics, it might well be that this will work. But the PSU is not "Center Pin Negative" its Center Groud, Ring Positive, and you well might do damage with it touching something somewhere accidentally. As long as your LXR is in the Case everything is fine…. but we all know while building the Jack might float somewhere around your Workspace. Thats why next to all DIY Circuits insist on Center Pin Positive.
Do yourselves a favor, cut the Jack and solder it reversed so its Center Pin Positive.
  • i found out that while the PSU says center negative, the person actually spliced on a new tip to make it center positive.

thanks y'all, excited to get my hands wet on this beast.
