How to select patterns in flow->off mode ?

edited December 2013 in General
Hello,

I've been trying to edit my patterns for quite a while now, but it doesn't seem to work as intended, neither on v0.24a nor on v0.27.
I am trying this with FLW set to OFF, to have a similar behaviour to my Elektron Analog Four...

Is it a bug or is there something I just don't understand ?

I'm trying to use it this way :
1. [SHIFT]-[MENU] : FLW -> OFF.
2. [VOICE] : input notes in the sequencer on various tracks
3. [PERF] -> [AEG] for pattern 2, AEG led blinks, but pattern doesn't change and sequencer still shows pattern 1.

What am I doing wrong ?

  • No one uses more than 1 pattern ? :)
  • Hmm, I haven't had a problem switching patterns. I keep follow set to off as well. Is your pattern length for pattern 2 set to 16? Are you able to switch to pattern 2 for editing (shift-pattern 2 to make it blink)?
  • Ohh, I didn't know the shift-pattern key combo... it works !

    Thanks a lot !

I don't understand why we have to use shift, though ?
Maybe one day I'll take the time to go through the source code, as the manual is a bit limited compared to the actual functions of the LXR... I still haven't understood how we could edit sub steps, either... Any tips on that, while we're at it ? ;)

j/k, thanks for the help (and your work on the firmware :) )
  • If i'm not wrong...
While you are in step mode => press a button from the sequencer to select a step => the selected step is blicking => the buttons AEG, MOD, FLT etc representes the substeps of the selected one => press them to activate the substeps.
  • shift is needed to select a pattern, because without shift you tell the synth which pattern to play next.
If follow is turned on in the menu, the playing pattern is always active for edit, so in that case, shift would not be needed.

    Makes perfect sense !

    Thanks Xirso and julian...
I should have asked earlier, my bad :)
I'm having so much fun with my LXR, the more I spend time with, the more I like it...
And it's only getting better !

    Back to it :)
