i have found the origin the weird behavior of my LXR with your customized firmware : the first step of the kick drum have the 8 substep active.
I don't know how to erase this settings, i have tried to made the first pattern empty then saved it, but every time i reboot the LXR this first step of the kick is like that.
The other weird behavior is that my LXR isn't working at every boot with this firmware, sometimes my unit freeze, or i simply can't use the play button.
Can you post these two files from your SD card: glo.cfg and p000.snd (from the root directory)? Also can you confirm that you see the behavior right after turning the unit on (ie, before having loaded any patterns or drumkits manually).
Yes it happens every time i'm able to launch play (when my unit didn't freeze like it just did right now), i try to put a kick on STEP 1, and then it plays the 8 sub step and it sounds like FART
Ok, I managed to replicate the same behavior... Muffled weird sound and the first 8 substeps are turned on, some knobs don't work. The only way I was able to replicate it was by actually removing the P000.SND file from my SD card. It looks like it doesn't handle it gracefully if it's unable to load this file (this is the default kit file). I was able to put your two files in my system and they worked ok. So that tells me that for whatever reason, it's not loading the P000.SND file from your SD card on startup. It might be that the stock firmware handles it more gracefully than the custom one. I'll make sure I fix this issue. In the meantime, you might want to try a different SD card, or figure out why it's not loading that file from your card (or stick with the stock firmware).
I have experienced something similar with a cheap Transcend card in my Ambika. It wasn't always ready/readable when powering on. Sandisk is probably more reliable..
I have a question about sample in lxr. I noticed that a need to set the frequency coarse at 0 to hear the orginale tone/pitch of the sound i've imported. Please tell me if i'm wrong. I would be nice if the coarse around 63 could set the original pitch of the sample. This way, we could high pitch (coarse 64 to 127) or low pitch (coarse 0 to 62) the samples... instead of only high pitch the sound in the actual configuration.
@untoldlb Glad it works with a different card. I wonder if @tb323 is onto something with the card not being ready when powering on. Might be worthwhile to do a check of some sort and wait a bit if it fails. @erwanone I have not touched any of the sample dsp in the custom firmware, so you may want to post that as a general question under bugs features so it gets more visibility.
