Problems with filter

edited December 2013 in General
Some time ago I built one lxr, the first batch, and I now have more time to play with it.

I think the value of the resonance of the filter does not work properly or I do something wrong in the modeling of sound.

When I move between the values 1 to 114, there is very little difference in sound (almost nothing), between values 114-115 there is a high change in sound. From 115 to 127 it seems that there is no change in sound.

The frequency value is correct and the filter modes too. The problem happens in all modes of filter.

The potentiometer works well because the numbering change correctly displayed when turning the potentiometer.

You may have something wrong with the pcb?
Some component may be failing?
There's something I do wrong to set the sound?
Any idea?

Excuse my English, I translate with google!!

  • Please, can someone help me? There is correct the functioning of the resonance of the filter? Thank you
  • since the filter is completely implemented in software, it should not be affected by a hardware fault.
So as long as the numbers in the display are correct, the filter will get the right values.

I can check the resonance control this afternoon. If the response is really that bad it should be easy to give it another control curve. Never noticed this myself, though.
  • Curve control the filter frequency is the same? because the frequency has a correct scale and resonance seem to really change is only at the end of potentiometer rotation. That happens to me
  • most of the parameters have their curve internally modified.
If I remember right, the frequency control is much more exponential
  • Well I think it works better if the resonance has a more exponential scale, so it will be more evident in the sound change all values in the range. So you can play the best twist the potentiometer
  • This would be another change that would be great to add to the potential txt config file if possible.  I wouldn't want to have all my kits changed due to new filter behavior.

Also, the filter doesn't self-oscillate at high-res.  Is that what you are expecting sispac?  It's more for sculpting than for typical synth filter sounds imo...not that I wouldn't like to be able to choose whether or not it does that per sound on a kit.
  • I would like to turn the pot to increase resonance is gradual, as I am used to in other synths as shruthi, tetra ... Insist that now, at least in my lxr only sound change (significant) at the end of the rotation occurs.
  • hey julian! you had time to check out the resonance curve of the filter? I like to know what you think
    Thanks
