LXR Command Center - a Usine patch

edited October 2013 in General
I'm not sure if there are currently any other Usine users lurking around here, but if not I hope this patch will inspire you to give it a try.

This is what I've nerdily decided to call an 'LXR Command Center'. What you see in the screen shot is one half of the picture: a control surface which groups together knobs that control CC params on the LXR (this knobs can be easily assigned to either MIDI or OSC sources). The other half is that Usine provides you many modules that you can use to modulate any (or all of) these parameters.

It works just fine in the free version of Usine. Just open the browser window, click on 'add-ons' and then update them from the net. It will be available under 'midi tools'.

Please keep in mind that this patch seems to slow down the patching interface in the current beta of Usine quite dramatically --- adding new modulations can take some time at the moment. However the patch itself responds fluidly. The Sensomusic team is hard at work on the next version, so I'm waiting and hoping that the performance will improve then. Be sure to play around with some other patches, though, or you will not have the right impression of patching in Usine!

Also, I've never been jealous of people with touchscreens on their computers until now :)

Here is the description from the add-ons page at sensomusic.org:

Just a huge patch full of 'generic cc send' sub-patches that are tuned and grouped for Sonic Potions' LXR drum synth.

Designed to only send CC's when an input value has changed, this is intended for use both as a "dumb" patch for routing modulation via step sequencers/LFOs/envelopes/OSC into the LXR and as a real-time control surface for the individual settings.

Note: The current version is not 100% complete as it is missing some LFO related CC's and all of the NRPNs. It also seems to take around 10% of my CPU, but there are no spikes during operation so that seems to be the current cost of keeping everything running smoothly.

  • This is great! I'm a Usine Hollyhock user and I'll try it out later this week. Good job! :-)

Let me know how it works for you! On my machines the slowdown in patching is just as stark in the newest version of Usine as it was before. Hopefully there is something that can be done about it.

Also, feel free to drive the control center with this :D
